Benn has repeatedly protested his innocence over two failed tests for the female fertility drug clomifene. The positives were found in samples collected by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association on July 25 and September 1 and have not yet been explained by the 26-year-old. Benn has indicated that contamination could be the cause, with his team believed to be exploring the links between the substance and heavy consumption of chicken eggs. Despite the lack of cooperation, Benn is set for an imminent return to the WBC rankings after receiving a favourable verdict in a conference call last week. Benn's legal effort is being spearheaded by Mike Morgan, the lawyer who famously got cyclist Chris Froome off a potential two-year ban. In a social media post last month, Benn said: “Been through hell and back. Thank God for science. The evidence doesn’t lie. Diaz posted the spectacular finish to his Instagram Story after getting tagged by a fan. The 39-year-old claimed he might have had a UFC belt, if not two, wrapped around his waist had events gone differently. “These motherf**kers are lucky. I got fu**ked over my whole career,” Diaz wrote. “Otherwise I have the UFC belt by now maybe both of them.” Diaz didn't have the best relationship with the UFC and the governing body of the sport; in particular, he received a $165,000 fine and a five-year suspension after testing positive for marijuana metabolites during his UFC 183 match against Anderson Silva. Even though he later got the sentence cut to 18 months and the fee to $100,000, Diaz still had to deal with another punishment in 2018 after three whereabouts failures by USADA. Diaz's strained relationship with the top MMA competitor even led to him teasing a move to Bellator and yelling, "F*ck UFC."

UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal alleges that Conor McGregor has "shot down" a massive superfight with him ahead of the Irishman's comeback to MMA. Every time the UFC’s brought it up, he shoots it down. I don’t know why. I think I’m bigger. I think I’m quicker than him, and we both know I hit harder than him.” McGregor would make his comeback at some point in 2023, according to Dana White. He didn’t come over to the UFC but it’s not taking anything away from him. He built a legacy. He fought those guys [in Japan], beat a lot of those guys. But if you were to put [on a fight] on their best night, Fedor versus Cain, I’m going to take Cain.” Even with a professional career littered with lengthy absences due to injury, Velasquez nevertheless succeeded in winning the UFC championship twice and overcoming notable opponents like Brock Lesnar, Junior dos Santos, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. He was from the time that I came and decided I want to make this run. At first when it started it was Anderson Silva. He was the man. It was 2010 and things like that, but when he had his injury, I kind of fell off from the sport.” Hill will aim to defend his 205-pound belt in the near future. He has stated that former champion Jiri Prochazka should be his first opponent for the championship, although it is unclear whether Prochazka will be able to recover in time to compete by July or August.

To settle an undisputed match between Usyk and WBC world champion Tyson Fury, conversations are still going on. If the chance to take on Usyk arises, Beterbiev would consider the possibility. "No problem," Beterbiev said. "If you organize. He's successful. He did a good job [with his career]. He's a good fighter and he did a good job. I'm not really interested [in his career]. I'm not following Usyk or someone else," Beterbiev told Sky Sports. More than anything, Beterbiev wants an undisputed bout with WBA champion Dmitry Bivol, but it doesn't seem realistic in 2023 with Bivol maybe facing Joshua Buatsi first and then facing Saul "Canelo" Alvarez again. Beterbiev will likely defend the WBC championship against top contender Callum Smith if no agreement on unification is reached. The Russian puncher is open to the idea of competing for a world championship at cruiserweight, but he would rather win the final crown at 175 pounds before thinking about going heavier. "I could move up, it's interesting but another champion is good too," Beterbiev said. "I try to be ready for everything. If it comes, we will try to do it."

Longtime UFC broadcaster Laura Sanko is officially the second female colour commentator in UFC history. anko will make her cageside debut at UFC Vegas 68, which takes place on Saturday at UFC APEX in Las Vegas, according to a Monday announcement from the organisation. Sanko, a former atomweight MMA fighter, last competed for Invicta FC before beginning broadcast work for the organisation. She made her debut in the UFC in 2016 as a backstage reporter, although she has always had aspirations to work in the commentary box. In a recent press release, she said: "Taking the next step to join the UFC commentary team has been a goal of mine since I began my broadcast career. It is an honor to walk in the footprint of Kathy Long 30 years after her appearance on UFC 1. I consider it a true privilege to be part of the team that is a voice to our incredible fans, communicating the fighting art of each man and woman who steps inside the UFC Octagon." The inaugural UFC event was broadcast by former kickboxing champion Kathy Long in 1993, but Sanko will be the first woman to do so in the Zuffa era. Sanko has called Dana White's Contender Series before, but this will be her first time doing so for a main event. Laura Sanko will make her commentary debut at the upcoming Apex event, which features a heavyweight fight between KO artist Derrick Lewis and rising contender Serghei Spivac.

Max Holloway, the former UFC featherweight champion, will return to the Octagon in April to face Arnold Allen.
