  • Israel Adesanya advises Luke Rockhold to wrestle with Costa ahead of UFC 278

The UFC 278 main event between Leon Edwards and Welterweight Champion is set to go down in a much anticipated rematch. In the co-main event of UFC 278 on Saturday at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Rockhold (16-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) battles the Brazilian terminator Paulo Costa (13-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC). Luke Rockhold, a former middleweight champion of the UFC and Strikeforce, has recently had difficulties. He has struggled with injuries for years and even took a significant vacation from the sport to rehabilitate. In his previous four fights, he has gone one and three. The 37-year-old was scheduled to face middleweight Sean Strickland at UFC 268 on November 6, 2021, after a two-year break. However, Rockhold pulled out on October 11 due to a strained disc. It makes sense that Adesanya is paying attention to the crucial Middleweight co-main event between Rockhold and Costa because it might have a big impact on who will compete for the title in the future. Adesanya stressed the value of wearing down Costa early on with strikes and takedowns while breaking down the fight on his YouTube channel. “But Luke, if he can wrestle him and get him tired, wear those muscles out. Luke, try to wrestle him straight away. Do what I did: Teep his legs, establish leg kicks a little bit, but start wrestling straight away and make him tired, make him second guess. Make him know he can be taken down or there’s a threat of being taken down.” When Adesanya stopped Costa by TKO to win back his title in September 2020, it was Costa's first defeat. But given that Rockhold is making his comeback after a break of more than three years, Adesanya believes he should start the match with some grappling to make Costa uneasy. However, Adesanya also advises Costa to approach Rockhold the same way he always does, which has led to 11 career knockouts. “Costa, just do what he does,” Adesanya said. “Just barrage him, clip him. If he clips him, he’s probably going to drop Luke.” But given his instincts he has gone ahead and picked Luke Rockhold to be the winner of this bout if he can manage the distance and stick to the game plan. All five of Rockhold’s losses have come by knockout and although he’s facing a power puncher in Costa, Adesanya thinks more than three years without fighting should have a positive impact on the former middleweight champ. The middleweight champ himself would be training for his upcoming fight in November against his old rival Alex Pereira. Maybe he can use his own advice in terms of wrestling with his opponent. Luke Rockhold while talking to Helen Yee sports also advised Adesanya to showcase his ground game against his next opponent. He said “Israel's gotta check himself and he's gotta fight MMA. We all know Alex Pereira sucks on the ground. We all know even Israel could probably f***ing put him away on the ground." What do you guys think of the matchup between Paulo Costa and Luke Rockhold? Does Luke go to sleep again considering the power Costa possesses or can Luke take Costa to the ground and teach him a lesson about how to behave like a man on twitter. Let us know in the comments.

  • Luke Rockhold calls for increase in fight bonuses, says “People need to wake up”

Luke Rockhold is one of the veterans in the UFC. The former middleweight champion last entered inside the octagon back in 2019 where he faced the former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz. He is now set to return to the octagon against a tough opponent in Paulo Costa. Costa last fought Marvin Vettori and tasted defeat after the bout was moved to 205 pounds. Both the fighters will be looking for the win as they both are coming back from back to back losses. Former middleweight champion of the UFC and Strikeforce, Luke Rockhold, has recently struggled He has gone one and three in his last four fights, has battled injuries for years and even took a long break from the sport to heal. After a two-year hiatus, the 37 year old was slated to compete at UFC 268 on November 6, 2021, against middleweight Sean Strickland. But Rockhold withdrew on October 11 because of a herniated disc. Now he faces a stern test ahead of UFC 278. His opponent has also a history with weight issues. He failed to make weight the last time he fought Marvin Vettori. Dana White also suggested that Paulo Costa should move to the light heavyweight division however the Brazilian sees his future in the middleweight division for now. Rockhold has also a history of having opponents who failed to make weight. Yoel Romero was supposed to challenge Rockhold for the interim middleweight title at UFC 221 but Romero's weight ended up being off by over three pounds. Rockhold accepted the fight but was brutally knocked out in round three. Rockhold is vary that if any similar situation arises he will have to decline the fight. Recently, Luke Rockhold gave out his thoughts on the UFC bonus structure and it is safe to say that he was not a fan of the current amounts which are being handed to the fighters as bonuses. At the moment, the UFC gives away two $50k bonuses for POTN and two $50k bonuses for FOTN. The business occasionally decides to award additional bonuses. Due to UFC events consistently selling out the gate and keeping the same profit margins, this has been happening more recently. However, considering that bonuses have historically lost value, Luke Rockhold thinks the UFC's payout structure is ludicrous. While speaking to MMA fighting Rockhold stated ““F*****g $50,000 bonuses going on for two decades. Like, what the f**l?” “The valuation of the company’s going up f*****g billions of dollars and we’re still stuck on $50,000 bonus checks? What the f**k is this? People need to wake up.” The 37 year old has urged other fighters to finally demand for what they think is fair. He thinks nothing will happen until people start speaking on this matter. He also thinks that bonus should be raised to $100k. The company, everything should grow, we should grow together. That’s how a healthy business works. When you build an unhealthy business, it just takes enough time for the f*****g egg to crack and enough people to grow an f*****g sack. Too bad there’s not enough of us who have a sack.” Many of the fighters have been raising their voices related to the pay structure and the bonuses handed out to the fighters. Rockhold has been the latest one to put his two cents in this situation. He faces a tough test ahead of his long awaited return against Paulo Costa. What do you guys think of the comments made by the former middle weight champion? Let us know your views in the comments.

  • Shane Burgos decides to leave UFC and signs with PFL in order to become a ‘multimillionaire’

A popular featherweight competitor in the UFC recently decided to leave the Octagon after becoming a free agent. A month after his most recent octagon performance, the featherweight free agent revealed in an interview on Monday that he is leaving the UFC and joining the PFL roster. Burgos (15-3) defeated Charles Jourdain by majority decision at UFC Long Island in the last contest of his UFC contract. When the UFC is more interested in signing a fighter than the fighter is in joining the UFC, those days are long gone, but Shane Burgos recently appeared to be in that situation. The fan-favorite featherweight action fighter recently finished an 11-fight run with the biggest MMA organization in the world. Burgos anticipates making his professional debut in a non-tournament match in November or December. He then plans to compete in the league's regular season in 2023 in an effort to capture the PFL title and a $1 million reward. Initially, he intends to compete at featherweight in 2023 before switching to lightweight the following year. He added that he will be able to commentate for the PFL in the future. Burgos acknowledged that leaving the largest MMA company in the world wasn't an easy decision, but after discussing with his family the hefty rise the PFL was providing, he stated it was a "no-brainer" financially. He told Ariel Helwani in an interview that “When it’s all said and done after the first season obviously, I plan on winning,I’ll be a multi-millionaire” “It was not an easy decision. It was an offer I couldn’t turn it up. I’ve got two daughters, I’ve got to go back home, I’ve got to look at them in the face when it’s all said and done in this sport. With this deal I feel like that will secure that. Not taking anything away from my UFC career’’ Burgos is still in his prime and puts on exciting bouts every time he steps into the cage, so why is the UFC holding out on him? Although he has a record of 2-2 in his previous four fights, letting him go after developing him into a featherweight who is ranked among the Top 15 devalues the division and invites others to follow in his footsteps. Nonetheless not many will be surprised by Burgos’s decision to quit UFC amid noise from many fighters over the pay structure which the UFC offers them. Fighting under Dana White's promotional umbrella would continue to pay what it pays as long as he is in charge, he insisted in a recent interview with GQ. Dana silenced the people who have been raising concerns on the fighter pay structure. He stated “It's never gonna happen while I'm here, believe me. These guys get paid what they're supposed to get paid," White replied when asked why the issue of fighter pay keeps being brought up. "They eat what they kill. They get a percentage of the pay-per-view buys and the money is spread out amongst all the fighters.” Recently, Luke Rockhold gave out his thoughts on the UFC bonus structure and it is safe to say that he was not a fan of the current amounts which are being handed to the fighters as bonuses. Like, what the f**l?” “The valuation of the company’s going up f*****g billions of dollars and we’re still stuck on $50,000 bonus checks? What the f**k is this? People need to wake up.” Fighters are starting to get more vocal about this issue and many are also taking actions in order to get the best for their lives. This move from Shane Burgos could be a start for many upcoming exits. What do you guys think about the UFC pay structure? Should the UFC revise their structure and give financial security to the fighters? Let us know in the comments.

  • UYSK EXPECTS TO WIN AGAIN.

Unified Heavyweight Champ Oleksandr Usyk said in an interview to be very pleased to finally fight again. He also said to be ready for whatever Anthony Joshua brings to the table on saturday night and that hes been watching him for 10 years, so he knows what to expect. He also said to be very happy that his country will be able to watch the fight for free and watch him win.

  • Enough of excuses.

Former two time heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua keeps on making excuses on the results of his first fight against Oleksandr Usyk . He claims that if Usyk wasnt lefty he would of smoked him, he also says he didnt want to hurt Usyk in their first fight and that now things are really different with new coach Robert Garcia. They are working with being more aggresive. My opinión on him giving excuses is that as a fighter you have good days and you have bad days, but even if its a bad day and you are losing and hurting, you go out and risk it and go for it. We all saw he didnt do that, he tried to survive. I dont know what happend to A.J , ever since that first Ruiz fight he isnt the same fighter. He said that if Usyk wasnt a lefty he would of smoked him, he also said that he didnt want to hurt Usyk in their first fight either. What did he want to do with Usyk in their first fight? Go to the movies then buy him flowers? Its a fight A.J ! Put your nuts on and bite down on your mouthpiece and go for it. What ever happend to that A.J that would get hurt and come back and knock you out? We saw it against White and against Klitschko. A.J has to go out and pressure Usyk and cut off the ring , make it ugly for the champ. A.J has a huge advantage in power and size , he should use it. Dereck Chisora had his moments when he fought Usyk and he doesnt have the power or talent A.J has. I think it comes down to heart. I believe he lost it against Usyk in their first fight. Does Anthony Joshua still have heart?

  • A.J NOT A FAVORITE TO WIN REMATCH.

Experts poll predict Anthony Joshua to lose again against Oleksandr Usyk in their much anticipated rematch. Various boxing magazine experts and former boxers dont see Anthony Joshua winning in his rematch this weekend. Just think of that when placing your bets ladies and gents.

  • PIMBLETT SHOCKS FANS WITH WEIGHT GAIN.

UFC Star Paddy Pimblett shocks fans with his weight gain, but what surprises more is how he drops the weight when he fights. For us fighters its common to see this kind of stuff. Usually its the guys that cant be disciplined that dont WATCH their diets or their scales. Being a fighter myself I know whats it like, Ive made the same mistakes and sin in the same manner jaja. Then to drop the weight its alot of hard work , then even dehydrating yourself to make weight. Many fighters have the method down to a T. Thats why you see fighters weight in at 155 then the day of the fight they are 175. They know how to manipulate their water weight. If your not careful with that and dont hydrate enough you wont be able to be at your best that night. It feels like crap to fight dehydrated and the risk of serious brain injury goes up. Its a serious issue with fighters , not so long ago they made rehydration with iv illegal because of these practices, but now they are replaced with some Gatorade with some Potasium and Magnesium pills but sometimes its not enough. Hopefully Paddy is always the "Baddy" and doesnt go through a fight being dehydrated.
