  • Riddick Bowe VS Lamar Odom

I almost felt kind of bad watching Aaron Carter get beat up by Lamar Odom. Then I remembered all the smack talk Aaron Carter was giving Lamar Odom. I didn't feel bad at all then. It was funny, Aaron suggested Lamar couldn't take him because he fought regular and southpaw. Some other outlandish things. Listen, calling out an ex NBA player who has significant height, weight, and reach over you. When you're not an athlete at all. Isn't a smart move. So now Lamar Odom is going to fight Riddick Bowe. Wow. It's almost like the tables have turned. Lamar seemed really chill going into the fight with Aaron, so I'm sure he'll give the same respect to Riddick. You can sure bet that most people will claim Bowe as their anticipated victor. The man has a record of 43-1 with 33 knockouts, victories over fighters like Evander Holyfield, and was competing in kickboxing as far back as 2013. Odom is a good bit younger than Bowe, but old man strength is a real thing. There's also a level of experience you gain through years of mitts and heavy bag sessions. You cant just speed train your way through that. If Riddick Bowe doesn't do to Lamar Odom, what Lamar did to Aaron Carter. I'll be very surprised. Regardless this should be a very interesting matchup!

  • When Trash Talk Goes Too Far | Opinion

Trash talk in combat sports is one of those things you kind of anticipate. These people are gonna beat the crap out of eachother, they both obviously disagree on who is going to win. They're gonna try to get in the other persons head or look cool on camera or bolster how they'll win the fight. It's fun to watch at times but sometimes it just goes too far. You hear things like "I'm gonna knock him out." Or "She's not gonna make it past the first round with me." Attacks on their opponents toughness, critique of their prior fights or style. That's all good and well. Even encouraged, it promotes the PPV sales. Gets people wanting to watch. These types of insults are brushed off and after the fight, the fighters will still hug each other. Once you step into immediate family, death threats, mocking the deceased. That reaches a low. A level so low that you can't justify it as a means to promote PPV sales. Daniel Cormier said Conor's latest Twitter smack talk against Khabib's late father is more like a cry for help. Whatever it is, needs to be managed. There's a certain level of respect that we should give everyone on this planet. You've gotta be really insecure to bring someone's recently deceased father into a insult. Let alone including the globally catastrophic pandemic. Conor is done as a fighter with his recent losses, is this substance abuse? Did Khabib give him a serious head injury? Who really knows what's going on with Conor. Maybe Daniel Cormier is right. Conor deletes the tweet which shows some form of competency to realize it was something he shouldn't have said. It was up long enough though that everyone saw it and it was archived. If the guy doesn't get his act together soon, he may wind up losing his ability to sell fights by continuously losing. Losing his endorsements for vile and unprofessional behavior. So let's hope we see a 180 degree turn in behavior. Maybe Conor will give a sincere apology. Follow Khabib's lead by recognizing when to retire and move onto training the next best fighter. One can only hope.

  • Superfights We All Wish Would Have Happened

Combat sports history is full of superfights and showdowns that we'll watch for the ages. Muhammad Ali vs George Foreman, Mike Tyson vs Evander Holyfield, Mayweather vs Pacquiao, GSP vs BJ Penn, Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen. What about the superfights we all wanted that never happened? The biggest fight of the century would have been GSP vs Anderson Silva. Everyone talked about that matchup. Considering for the longest they were the #1 and #2 best pound for pound ranked MMA fighters in the world. The main reason we likely never got this fight was because of weight. As GSP walks around at about 170 and Silva at 185. These guys never really competed for titles in the same weight class. So while we all wanted to watch them fight, it just never happened. Mike Tyson vs George Foreman would have been a clash for the ages. However Foreman was ending his championship reign and getting ready to leave as Tyson was making a name for himself. George actually admits that he was warned to not fight Mike Tyson. So while we never got to see these two go at it, we can only imagine the fireworks and haymakers these two would have caused. Ronda Rousey vs Cris Cyborg would have been a huge fight. Everybody wanted to see these two go at it. Both fighters have an incredible standup and ground game. We're told the reason the fight never happened is because Cyborg walks around about 10 pounds heavier than Rousey. These two were definitely the top female fighters of their day and we will just have to guess as to what could have been.

  • Fighters And Cannabis

It's no secret that many people and fighters included use marijuana medically and recreationally. Cannabis has been around as long as humans, we've cultivated it since recorded history. Sean O'malley, Jon Jones, Jake Shields, the Diaz Brothers, Ronda Rousey, Bas Rutten, and Mike Tyson to name a few are just some of the fighters who openly support cannabis whether it be CBD for pain management or smoking to help manage stress. Mike Tyson has his own cannabis farm called "Tyson Ranch." It yields 1 million a month! Mike even smoked right before his match with Roy Jones Jr this year. Mike says he's been smoking pot his entire professional boxing career. How's that for the lazy stoner stigma. Nick and Nate Diaz have their own cannabis company as well. These brothers have been very proactive in the medical and recreational cannabis space. Nate famously failing his drug test for it and receiving suspension. Jon Jones caught a lot of heat for his drug test failures, while he said he'd get clean. He will still smoke cannabis from time to time. Bas Rutten was against taking any type of cannabis supplement but found that CBD helped him overcome pain without the need of opiates. Cannabis has helped many people, including fighters!

  • 3 Favorite UFC Submission Wins

    3. Frank Mir VS Brock Lesnar - UFC 81 When Brock Lesnar first came into the UFC he was quickly making a name for himself. People joked around about him coming from WWE but forgot he was a collegiate champion wrestler. Joe Rogan wouldn't stop talking about how huge he was and the UFC had to make custom gloves for his hands. Mir attacked Lesnar's legs very quick after getting a flurry of punches, and won via kneebar in the first round. People were shocked and Brock was so upset that he made sure to get a rematch. 2. Anderson Silva Vs Chael Sonnen - UFC 148 This Silva V Sonnen battle was at the peak of both their primes. Sonnen was a top contender and Silva was the middleweight champion. Chael Sonnen dominated Anderson Silva the first 4 rounds. Out striking and out grappling, everyone was sure Silva was going to lose his towards the end of the fight. With only 30 seconds left, Silva managed to get one of his famous triangle chokes in and got the win. 1. Chan Sung VS Leonardo Garcia - UFC Fight Night 24 If you do jiujitsu and 10th planet especially, then you know how hard it is to pull a twister submission off. It's basically just a really fancy neck crank, but it's not a easy position to get someone in. You have to have someone in a grapevine with their arm trapped under you. with your arms clasped around their head, reverse grip style. There's significantly more easier submissions to pull off before you try to slap a twister on someone. That didn't stop The Korean Zombie - Chan Sung. He saw the best opportunity for it and went right to it. The first person ever in UFC history to win via twister.

  • Fighters And Their Hobbies Outside Of Combat Sports

We know fighters love to fight, it's obvious when someone chooses a profession surrounding getting punched in the face. What about fighters outside of combat sports though? Surely these brutes of the most violent athleticism enjoy things outside of bashing skulls? Turns out, fighters are just like you and me. They're diverse and all are interested in a broad range of hobbies. Chad Mendes, a UFC veteran featherweight is an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Ronda Rousey plays World of Warcraft, and even streams it online. Ben Askren plays disc golf and actually placed second in the United States Amateur Disc Golf Championship. Josh Barnett plays the card game, Magic The Gathering. Luke Rockhold is a skater / surfer. Nick and Nate Diaz smoke pot on a stoner subculture level. You'd be surprised to know that probably any fighter you can think of besides Floyd Mayweather who lives in the gym. They all have hobbies and things they like to do outside of combat sports. Chances are there's a professional fighter out there who shares the same hobby as you. Imagine going kayaking or geode collecting and running into Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson is in love with pigeons. He raises them, races them, attends annual pigeon pageants. If you don't like pigeons, probably just best for you to avoid Mike Tyson. It's actually legal to hunt pigeons in America though, so just like you might share hobbies with a fighter. You also might have a hobby that collides with another fighters hobby. Pigeon hunters beware of Mike Tyson.

  • TEOFIMO LOPEZ JR. IMPATIENT OVER GEORGE KAMBOSOS JR. CLASH

George Kambosos' lightweight world title fight with Teofimo Lopez has been delayed after Lopez tested positive for COVID-19. It looks like Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kombosos Jr. Bout 2021 is not going to happen when we want it to. Earlier, the fighting was scheduled for June 5, but later changed on June 19. Lopez had a positive test for Covid-19. So, instead, the whole fight changed. Despite this, the Lopez vs Kambosos event still seems in a tragic spot. Because, as per ESPN, the organizers of this bout, Triller, is looking to schedule this fight in Australia on an altogether new date in October 2021. This move has infuriated Lopez and his team as they wish to fight in the US. Recently, ‘The takeover’s manager, David McWater, gave his take on this entire fuss. He said, “That’s our major objection: to ask a guy to fly international and cut weight for 14 days while in quarantine. It’s not right.” "I don’t think we’ll have to give up the title. I think if they want to move [the fight] that far back the IBF will rule. But fine, if we have to, we’ll give up the title and he can fight [next-available contender] Isaac Cruz somewhere for $70,000 [for the vacant title].” Even after all these comments, it's not possible to say when the fight will take place. Is this match really called off or will the fans get to watch this match?

  • Public Punching Bags In New York

It's no secret that New Yorkers love to fight. Mike Tyson is from Brooklyn, if that says anything. Well now New Yorkers have access to public punching bags! That guy next to you at the crosswalk pissing you off? Go to town on the bag. Your boss just fire you? Hit the bag! Imagine being a tourist and walking into New Yorker culture like. "Holy crap that guy is really going to town on that punching bag, I wonder who pissed him off?!" Or being a tourist and being pissed off by a native Yorker to then you yourself go to town on said bag. Reading the comments about these things is pretty funny. Some people suggest punching is not a good healthy hoping mechanism for anger. I would like to disagree with them as punching people who make me angry always makes me feel better, it's just frowned upon. I feel like New York is leading the world with these. We need these in every city. Every state, everywhere. Maybe these things will help curve violent crimes. New York started installing these in 2019, so in 2 years there violent crime has actually deterred. This has nothing to do with Covid restrictions or actual crime deterrents. I'm a science man and this is obviously science that someone science'd up in a science lab. Public punching bags = good for society.
