Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo Set to Make a Comeback!


Former WBC featherweight world champion, Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo (24-2, 16 KOs), is gearing up for his return to the ring on December 9th.


Magsayo, a native of Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines, is set to face off against Isacc Avelar (17-6, 10 KOs) from Aguascalientes, Mexico, in an 8-round junior lightweight clash.


In an exclusive pre-fight interview, Magsayo shared insights into his preparations for the upcoming match. Working closely with Coach Marvin Somodio, Magsayo emphasized the focus on refining various aspects of his game, particularly pacing himself better to endure the later rounds. The move to the junior lightweight division is expected to bring added strength, making a significant difference in weight management.


Regarding his opponent, Avelar, Magsayo acknowledged the Mexican fighter's toughness and heart, recognizing the need to bring his A-game for a successful outcome. While expressing confidence in his ability to secure a victory, Magsayo hinted at a strategic approach, aiming to finish the fight early but remaining prepared to go the distance if required.
