The highly anticipated clash between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney scheduled for April 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn has sparked controversy, with Garcia taking to social media to express his dissatisfaction with the fight's location.

Garcia, a former amateur rival of Haney, expressed his belief that the fight belongs in Las Vegas, specifically at the MGM Grand, suggesting that the decision to hold the event in New York is more about business than the city itself. In a post on X, Garcia stated,

"This is a MGM Vegas fight, doing everything we can to bring this fight to Vegas and giving this fight what it deserves."

The location of the fight has been a topic of discussion, especially given its significance as a WBC super lightweight bout. Garcia's comments have added fuel to the fire, with the challenger clearly unhappy about the decision.

In response, Haney took a shot at Garcia, suggesting that the young fighter was looking for a way out of the bout. Haney replied to Garcia's post, saying,

"This dude is planning his escape." The exchange continued with Garcia questioning Haney's motives, stating, "Why are you trying to paint that picture to the public, towards the guy who is making you more money in your life and in your entire career – sad to see."

Haney had previously addressed the issue of the fight location on X, hinting that the decision was influenced by the upcoming fight of boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez, who is scheduled to fight on May 4. Haney's post read,

"The reason the fight not happening in Vegas is because they don’t wanna affect Canelo ticket sales…"

Despite the controversy surrounding the fight's location, fans are eagerly anticipating the showdown between Garcia and Haney, which promises to be one of the biggest fights of the year. With tensions already running high between the two fighters, the buildup to the bout is sure to be filled with drama and excitement.
