- Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya come to blows on Twitter
For those who were unaware, Ryan Garcia's promoter is Oscar de la Hoya, but the young boxer just let some dirty laundry out in the open. A article by journalist Michael Benson that mimicked De la Hoya's most recent remarks, in which he attempts to promote a bout between Manny Pacquiao andĀ Garcia, was what set the whole thing off. Ryan obviously disagrees with this and has arranged his next three opponents in that sequence. More essential, though, is the fact that Ryan is making his major promoter seem bad, and De la Hoya is not one to keep silent when that happens. This very well might be the signs of a potential break up between Garcia and Golden Boy Promotions. De la Hoya took to Twitter in order to remind Ryan Garcia he was basically forced into that dreadful rehydration clause. In the mainds of boxing experts, this clause should've never been agreed for Ryan. It shows to be the main reason Garcia wasn't able to continue and seemed gas throughout the entire fight against Gervonta Davis. But as his promoter, Ryan Garcia felt this as a direct attack from the person who is supposed to be in his corner. It's obvious from this heated argument that Ryan Garcia is growing more dissatisfied with De la Hoya's performance. Could this indicate that the young fighter may now consider looking for a new promoter? If Ryan's next opponent cannot be agreed upon by the two sides, Garcia may pull the plug. Ryan even claimed that Oscar de la Hoya had taken selfies with one of his potential opponents in his final jab, which has since been removed from his Twitter account.
- Leon Edwards: āI am willing to fight whoever as long as they deserve itā
Since reigning UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards established his rule with the first defense of his championship, the debate over his next opponent has raged on. Colby Covington, the event's backup main-event fighter, was waiting in queue after Edwards' second victory against Kamaru Usman, a majority decision victory at the pay-per-view hosted in London this past March. Despite "Chaos" losing two championship matches in his last four trips inside the Octagon and not fighting in over 14 months, UFC President Dana White fiercely defended that choice. Edwards recently criticised all of the top competitors in the division for not demonstrating why they should have the next chance to compete for the welterweight title, not just the #2-ranked contender. In preparation for his anticipated second defence later this year, Edwards evaluated the current 170-pound scene during a recent interview. "These guys want to sit out, complain, and moan about the title shot without fighting," Edwards said. "I had to do 10 in a row to get my title shot. These guys are coming off one win, one loss, one win... demanding title shots. I feel like they should fight each other. Either Colby versus (Gilbert) Burns or Belal (Muhammad) versus Colby. However they wanna do it. Whoever wins, that's me next. "The UFC hasn't spoke to us and there's no talks of that fight (Covington) happening. He's just talking just to talk... This is the guy that sat out for over a year, turned down fight after fight," Edwards continued. "I (accepted) Khamzat (Chimaev) when no one wanted to fight Khamzat... I am willing to fight whoever, whenever, as long as they deserve it. Who do you think Edwards should fight next? Comment and let us know
- New UFC signing Jose Henrique banned for 2 years
Jose Henrique, a recent UFC signee, has agreed to a two-year ban for breaking the organization's anti-doping rules, USADA said on Thursday. According to USADA officials, Henrique tested positive for 19-norandrosterone and 19-norretiocholanolone, two metabolites of the anabolic steroid nandrolone, during an out-of-competition drug test on March 8. Henrique will be able to compete on March 8, 2025, as his suspension is retroactive to the day of his failed test. Henrique (6-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) joined the UFC in March but had not yet been scheduled for a fight that would be widely known. āUpon being added to the UFC Anti-Doping Program, athletes are required to declare prohibited substances they have used in the previous 12 months,ā USADA wrote in a statement. āAn athlete who makes such declaration will not be deemed to have committed a violation but, depending on the substance, may be required to refrain from competition for a period of at least six months and provide at least two negative samples. ā[Henrique] did not declare the use of nandrolone and/or other 19-norsteroids on his onboarding declaration forms.ā

Multiple division world champion the famous monster Naoya Inoue will test himself and move up in weight to challenge 122lbs unified champ Steven Fulton for his WBC, WBO world titles on july 25th in Japan. - Errol Spence Jr expects Crawford to indulge in a firefight when the two boxers collide in the ring
The boxing world occasionally offers fans hidden gems. Sometimes boxing just delivers, whether it was the all-out brawl between Tommy Hearns and Marvin Hagler in 1985, the brawl between Ken Norton and Larry Holmes in 1978, or the three devastating fights between Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe. Errol Spence Jr. is confident that his fight with Terence Crawford on July 29 will deliver on the biggest platform, even though the two haven't yet strutted through the T-Mobile Arena and exchanged punches. The reigning unified champion only requests that those who have rolled their eyes incredulously at Spence's claim put on the film and examine their work. āThe proof is in the pudding,ā said Spence on ESPNās First Take when asked why he believes his showdown against Crawford will be a historically great one. āYou see Terence Crawford and his body of work. You see my body of work.ā Generally speaking, Spence and Crawford both have resumes that have propelled them to the top of almost everyone's pound-for-pound lists. Spence, a strong southpaw from Dallas, Texas, has earned the nickname "Man Down" for registering numerous brutal knockouts. His most recent KO victim had repeatedly demonstrated that he was incredibly resilient. However, as soon as Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) got rolling, Yordenis Ugas lost, breaking his left orbital bone and losing his WBA title in the process. Crawford, on the other hand, has a lot of knockouts of his own that would make for good highlight reels. Overall, Crawfordās willingness to plant his feet and fire brings a gigantic smile to Spenceās face. āEverybody already know as soon as I get in the ring Iām stepping. I expect him to step too. We gonna put on a great show and a great performance.ā
- Teofimo Lopez opens up on his troubles outside the boxing ring
Teofimo Lopez thinks his problems are far worse outside the ropes than they are inside. In a recent interview, the current junior welterweight contender and former unified lightweight champion admitted that he has struggled with some personal issues as he prepares to face Josh Taylor, the current WBO 140-pound champion, on June 10 at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In particular, Lopez revealed that he and his wife, Cynthia, are currently going through a divorce. Yes, Lopez has already spoken in front of the public about his divorce from his wife, with whom he had a child. However, they were spotted together at Lopez's December Madison Square Garden fight. āThere have been a lot of personal issues,ā Lopez told Punsh Drunk Boxing. āThat plays a big role as you come up in the ranks and youāre a top fighter. A lot of things that people donāt really know, like right now, just a little insight: my ex-wife, she filed for divorce. Sheās gonna take half of my money and everything else with it. Though, you know, itās a part of it. It is what it is. It comes with the territory. You live and you learn. As long as Iām livinā, Iām learnin'." Lopez said that after defeating Martin in a contentious split decision in December, he took offence at his wife's unwillingness to give him their infant son. ESPN, who covered the Lopez-Martin fight, recorded the exchange. Lopez bemoaned the fact that he hadn't seen his son in a while. āYou know, I havenāt seen my son,ā Lopez said. āItās tough sometimes. For her to kind of diss me in front of the whole world by not passing my kid, or our kid, I should say, itās stuff like that really [takes a] toll [on me]. Iām doing everything for my son. Iām doing this for the new generation of boxing. So when those things that come into play at that time, of course Iām gonna be very disappointed. But Iām learning throughout the works of everything. Such is life. it comes with the territory.ā āThis is my third fight at 140, Iām facing the kingpin of the division, Josh Taylor,ā Lopez continued. āThatās the thing. We aim for the impossible. Once we start doing it, everybody is just gonna just jump right into it again.ā When asked if his out-of-the-ring troubles were more problematic than the challenges inside the ring, Lopez did not hesitate to answer, āAbsolutely.ā āIām 25,ā Lopez said. āIām still young, in that part of experiencing certain hardships in life that come with everything. ā¦I take a lot of classes with mentors who can actually speak upon things, to actually grow your education.ā
- Javier Mendez clears air on Khabib Nurmagomedov's retirement
Khabib Nurmagomedov stunned the mixed martial arts scene earlier this year by officially announcing his retirement from the sport. The Dagestani announced his retirement from the competition a few years after his successful championship defence against Justin Gaethje in 2019. After finding success in the ring and compiling a 29-0 professional record that has placed him in many people's GOAT conversations, "The Eagle" later demonstrated his coaching abilities in the corner and gym. However, only a few months after assisting his protege Islam Makhachev in winning the UFC 280 championship in Abu Dhabi, Khabib appeared to hang up his proverbial coaching gloves, expressing a desire to spend more time with his family. Khabib has been back at the gym helping his cousin Abubakar Nurmagomedov get ready for his upcoming fight against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos this weekend at UFC Vegas 74, according to Javier Mendez in an interview. Mendez attempted to clarify Khabib's present situation and attitude towards his engagement in the sport after stating that "The Eagle" wouldn't be returning to the corner for Saturday's contest. "One thing people don't understand is he never said he wouldn't coach people," Mendez said. "He said he's not gonna be in the corner and travel to fight camps because he's spending time with his family. He never said he wouldn't come and visit here and there, and train the guys. He never said none of that. He's still holding to everything he's ever said." "He never said never either, so I'm hoping at some point he can come back and help me because him being in the corner is such a huge motivator for the guys and me," Mendez explained. "Then my job's easier. I don't have to worry about hardly anything. I just sit in the backseat and let him drive because he's a hell of a driver."
- Leon Edwards believes Kamaru Usman will come back stronger
While Leon Edwards didn't have the welterweight gold and had a 0-1 head-to-head record with Kamaru Usman at this time last year, the situation has unquestionably changed. Edwards defeated Usman in 2 fights in August of last year and March of this year. He initially evened the match and robbed the long-reigning champion of the belt in Utah with a vicious fifth-round head-kick knockout. Though some claimed that the manner of that victory was an accident, "Rocky" gave a blow to his critics by defeating "The Nigerian Nightmare" over the course of five rounds at UFC 286 in London. The future of Usman became a heated question following a second straight defeat to Edwards. The former 170-pound champion, though, was fast to jump back on the horse despite many predicting a protracted absence from the sport and possibly even a retirement announcement. Edwards discussed his two victories over Usman during a recent interview and the former champion's vow to more appearances inside the Octagon. "Not really (surprised that he's not retiring), 'cause he is a dog, you know?" Edwards said. "I truly believe that he still beats everyone within the top five, top 10, apart from me. He's a great competitor. Everyone's trying to say now that he's lost a step because I beat him. But when he was knocking Colby (Covington) out, knocking (Jorge) Masvidal out, he didn't lose a step? Now, suddenly after I beat him twice, he's lost a step. "It is what it is, what people say. But yeah, like I say, It's good to have him in the game. He is a great fighter," Edwards continued. "I'm just the better man, and that's it."
