Tyson Fury is one of the most decorated heavyweight boxers of this generation. He proved it once again in April following his knockout victory over Dillan Whyte to defend his WBC title. After putting on a show at Wembley in front of 94 thousand local fans, he decided it was the right time to close the curtains on an illustrious career. However only few believed that he was retired for good. There is no man on the planet who has been able to defeat the Gypsy king inside the boxing ring yet. Deontay Wilder did come close when they fought back in December of 2018. However, Fury’s recent decision to come back to boxing did not surprise many because there are interesting fights out there waiting for him. One of the fights which Fury would be watching closely is Oleksandr Usyk versus Anthony Joshua which takes place on August 20th. This is a fight which will excite the fans because it will unify the heavyweight division. There is also a chance to set up a super fight between the two brits if Joshua can get his revenge on Usyk come Saturday night. This would arguably be one of the gigantic fights in the history of British boxing. Tyson Fury was certainly interested in fighting the winner of Joshua vs Usyk but the Gypsy King claimed he would only fight for the right price. Fury was due to fight Joshua for the undisputed championships last year, but he was forced to postpone his plans and face a trilogy with Deontay Wilder. Now Joshua must overturn his recent loss against Usyk to set up a showdown for all four major belts. Nonetheless, in a recent turn of events what surprised the boxing fans was Fury calling out his old rival Dereck Chisora for a trilogy fight rather than face the winner of Usyk vs Joshua 2. It was expected of Fury to get out of his retirement as he is a fighting man, and it will be hard for him to call it quits when he is at the peak of his powers. Now he wants to face his old pal Chisora who he has already beaten twice in his career. He also mentioned his new trainer for this trilogy fight Isaac Lowe having been coached for the last three fights by Sugar Hill. Chisora informed Fury that to make the bout official, he must first speak with his promoters Frank Warren and Bob Arum, believing that the arrangement is still far from being finalized. The heavyweight world champion hasn't spoken to Arum or Warren too often lately because he's gone on a speaking tour of the UK. Shortly after Chisora's update, Fury responded to Chisora in a video, saying that he didn't need to talk to Warren or Arum. Additionally, he assured his erstwhile friend that a contract will be delivered within the following week for him to sign. The fight between Chisora and Fury is being targeted for December in Cardiff, Wales but this fight will get mixed reviews from the fans around the globe. Fury convincingly beat Chisora when they fought twice previously so there is no sense to make this fight happen unless Fury wants to stay active to face the winner of Usyk versus Joshua. Chisora recently ended a three-fight losing streak by defeating Kubrat Pulev at London's O2 stadium last month, and he might now be in line for a world title shot. He lost against the current unified champion Oleksandr Usyk and twice-defeated champion Joseph Parker, but despite his losses, he has continued to compete on a global scale. It remains to be seen whether this fight will get official, or this is another one of Gypsy king’s bluffs to play with the media. It could be a mind game as well from Fury to distract his future possible opponents while they are in the camp fighting to set up a unification bout against Fury. The fight which makes the most sense would be the winner of Joshua versus Usyk facing Tyson Fury next year. If Fury manages to stay unbeaten in that bout there is no doubt that he will be ranked among the best boxers in the history of this sport. Julianna Peña shook the world with a huge historical upset in the history of MMA. The Venezuelan submitted the Brazilian Lioness Amanda Nunes and became UFC women’s bantamweight champion at UFC 269. The whole MMA world went into meltdown and could not believe Amanda Nunes getting beat in an empathic fashion. Nunes was in complete control and Peña looked out of her depth in the 1st round. It was a chaotic 2nd round. Peña looked more dominant and landed jab after jab which made Nunes exhausted. She took down the Lioness before choking her to secure the famous upset. It was Nunes’s first loss since getting finished by Cat Zingano at UFC 178 back in September 2014. Nunes had been bantamweight champion since defeating Miesha Tate at UFC 200. Even Peña’s own team looked in a state of surprise. Her coaches were watching with their hands on their heads as it appeared their fighter was about to win before jumping straight onto the Octagon and celebrating with their new champion. UFC chose both the women to headline the Ultimate Fighter Series. The Ultimate Fighter's 30th season featured a coaching matchup of UFC women's bantamweight champion Julianna Peña and Amanda Nunes. It really helped UFC to build up a story around a rematch between them at UFC 277. The unrest was still there in Amanda’s mind as she couldn’t accept a title loss. She kept on grinding and changed her stance to Southpaw during her training camp. She also left her old gym where she used to train at the American Top Team. There was no doubt that Amanda Nunes was working on her strength and conditioning for the rematch as it was the very reason, she gassed out in the first bout. The rematch was a completely different fight. Amanda Nunes came out on top with her new skillset. Amanda bullied Peña for five rounds. It was a bloodbath. Peña was entirely covered with a blood coat due to a cut on her forehead she got because of Amanda’s elbows and punches. That match is a good example of Amanda’s capability and Julianna’s resilience. Peña didn’t give up till the last round, hoping that she could still pull out a miracle. But the judges gave a unanimous decision in favor of the Brazilian and returned the lost crown to its rightful owner. Julianna Peña may have lost her title at UFC 277, but she clearly didn’t lose the desire to see Amanda Nunes standing across the cage from her. Peña was ablaze at a post-fight show at UFC Vegas 59 where she called for a trilogy against Amanda Nunes as she claimed there is still a score to settle. “I’m ready to go round 8 right now,” Peña said during the UFC Vegas 59 post-fight show. “Like let’s freaking go. I’m here. Where you at, Amanda? “Amanda, seriously, where are you at? You left your girl hanging out there. I showed up for Team Peña. She didn’t show up for Team Nunes. I’m here, I’m ready to go round 8.” As a reference to the Round eight comment, Peña finished Nunes in the second round during their first meeting this past December as she claimed the UFC bantamweight title. Nunes then got her revenge with the unanimous decision in the rematch. Pena also took Amanda’s change in stance as a compliment. “When somebody has entirely revamped and completely switched their entire stance and their entire fighting style because of me? I take that as a compliment,” Peña said about Nunes after their rematch. “I think if you give me time to get ready for both stances of Amanda, she doesn’t touch me next time.” Julianna appeared at the event on Saturday night in support of her team after coaching against Nunes on The Ultimate Fighter 30. Both season titles went in favor of the Team Peña fighter Muhammad Usman and Juliana Miller. Peña looked determined when she claimed that Amanda won’t stand against her if her wish for the trilogy is granted. Everybody thought that Peña will be on a long vacation after such a brutal fight so that she could recover from her injuries. But it didn’t look like that when she appeared at UFC Apex. She seemed to be ready to start another training camp as soon as possible. Peña is pushing for the trilogy by the end of the year. Amanda Nunes is off to Brazil as she anxiously waits to get back to her friends and family. She could not go back in the past couple of years as the global pandemic prevented her visit. It looks unlikely that Amanda has plans to take the third fight against the Venezuelan. At this moment Valentina Shevchenko deserves the trilogy more than Julianna Peña. Both fights of Amanda and Valentina went to the judge’s scorecard. The second fight was a bit close one as one of the judges’ decisions went in favor of Shevchenko. Former UFC interim champion, Tony Ferguson made a comeback to the UFC octagon at UFC 274. But it turned out to be the most devastating defeat of his career having never been knocked out in any of his previous fights. The 38-year-old bogeyman was knocked out cold and face-planted by a front kick from Michael Chandler in the second round. Both the lightweight fighters remained on their feet for most of the 1st round. However, just 17 seconds into the 2nd round, ‘Iron’ Chandler found a moment and landed a vicious front kick on Ferguson. This knocked ‘El Cucuy’ out cold. He was flat on the mat for a few minutes even after the bout ended. Many MMA fans speculated that Tony might have decided to quit his UFC career at that point after the fight's conclusion. Tony Ferguson is widely considered a legend in the world of MMA and is possibly one of the most successful underdog fighters the UFC has ever seen. With that in mind, many believe that ‘El Cucuy’ might just have a few wins left in him. But his recent run has not been impressive. The current #11 ranked lightweight contender, suffered his fourth straight defeat against Chandler. He suffered back-to-back decision losses to Beneil Dariush, former undisputed champion, Charles Oliveira, and an interim title fight loss against Justin Gaethje. Although his 12-fight win streak in the lightweight division was a remarkable achievement in UFC history. During the winning spree, Tony Ferguson submitted Kevin Lee to win an interim division title. He added other notable victories over Gleison Tibau, Josh Thomson, Edson Barboza, as well as former champions, Rafael dos Anjos, and Anthony Pettis. Ferguson was gutted to suffer such a loss but assured the fans that he would be taking notes and would take the necessary steps for another attempt to snap his disappointing losing streak. Looks like he has already found a new home base. Ferguson was spotted training along with striking coach Brandon Gibson at Jackson Wink MMA Academy, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Brandon has also spent years training with former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones as well. The gym has had some notable names over the years like George Saint Pierre, Holly Holm, Rashad Evans, Frank Mir, and Michelle Waterson among its ranks. Ferguson himself claimed that his biggest need was to join a reputed team and work on insights from experienced coaches. “I put myself away from the teams thinking I could do this by myself – and I did it,” Ferguson told MMA Junkie after his loss. “I’ve done this by myself for a very long time with the help of a select few individuals, and I’ve been very fortunate to have that. “But I’m ready to be part of a team again. It was only when my team broke up that I felt really hurt that I moved areas, that I moved situations, switched management and all the above. I have to open myself up again to being coached at a high level. Especially in my sport.” On one side Ferguson is determined to give his full out for a comeback and on the other side Former Lightweight champion, Khabib has been the greatest critic of El Cucuy. Since his loss to Justin Gaethje, Khabib has been advising Ferguson to say goodbye to the combat sport. Although UFC tried to treat the most awaited fight between Khabib and Ferguson several times due it had to be called due to injuries, weight cut-off, and covid-19 breakout. “He is 38 years old,” Nurmagomedov said in an interview posted and translated by RT Sport. “Tell me how he can make a comeback? He was dominated in his last three bouts. Different styles - a striker, a grappler... Dariush, Oliveira, Gaethje, they all dominated him both standing up and on the ground. When you are 38, I believe, you have to pull the brakes and there have to be people around him to say: ‘Hey, you are aging, you have to stop.’” Khabib’s best friend and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier also believes that a change in training facilities is not going to help turn around Ferguson's in-cage fortunes. Time will tell what is there next for the former interim champion. But Auckland striker Dan Hooker has called out Tony Ferguson for a lightweight showdown at UFC 281. Hooker believes it would be a perfect match-up as both are on a declining path. Dan Hooker has only one victory in his last five bouts. There is a mere difference in their UFC ranking as Tony is currently ranked number 11 and Hooker is ranked number 13. There might be a possibility that Tony Ferguson might climb up the division to reclaim his missing status. In an interview with MMA Junkie, Ferguson explained why he's considering the switch to 170 pounds. One thing to note is that Ferguson made his UFC debut as a welterweight when he won The Ultimate Fighter 13, about 12 years ago. Many experts think that a possible matchup versus Conor McGregor would be an amazing fight as both the fighters are currently on a losing streak and both the fighters are not a fan of cutting back to 155 pounds anymore. There is no doubt that the matchup should have happened 5 years ago but given the current scenario of both fighters they both need a win badly. It could very well work in the favor of Tony Ferguson because as sharp as he looked in the first round against Chandler, he even managed to drop him. WBA is now forcing 175lbs champ Dmitrii Bivol (20-0-0) to fight Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramírez after they denied Bivols request to fight Buatsi instead. Bivol is coming off his biggest win of his carrear after beating Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on points in may of this year. The deadline to reach an agreement between both parties was august 10th, the fight now goes to purse bid. Bivol is a heavy favorite to win this one.

Im writing this article not only because James Toney is my favorite boxer since I was a boy but because he posessed qualities rarely seen today. Many hear the term shoulder roll and people think of Floyd but to be honest Floyd wasnt even in his daddy's nuts when the crafty old school fighters would use the shoulder roll. Mainly in the 40's, 50's, 60's but to me James was the best at it. He would roll punches and counter staying in the pocket without running. Also his attitude was stone cold , you would'nt see him nervous and he took on anybody wanting to fight him. He won world titles in 5 weight divisións from middleweight to heavyweight and fought the best in his day. Nunn, McCallum, Jones, Barkley, Jirov, Lebedev, Holyfield, Peter, Rahman, Ruiz just to name a few on his very impresive resume. He also talked trash with the best of them. I miss fighters that put on a show for the crowd and can back it up. He was also never knocked out or stopped in a fight. They just dont make them like James anymore.

Yesterday writing the A.J article I couldnt help but to remember the great Evander" Real Deal" Holyfield. All those great fights he gave us, I really dont think we will ever see another fighter like him again. Especially now a days where the fighters are more concerned about how their eyebrows are plucked than how they look fighting and giving people their money's worth. The heart and determination he gave in his fights is rare to see now a days. His list of victims include pretty much the biggest names of his era. Tyson, Botha, Rahman, Ruiz, Moore, Czyz, Mercer, Holmes, Foreman, Douglas, and the list goes on and on. He never ducted nobody and fought all the top contenders and mandatory challengers rarely seen today. Now fighters dont care about championship or honor, they just want to get payed. Thats why they dont get the respect they believe they deserve. Holyfield will go down as a fighter with a huge heart and a never say die attitude, an olímpic Bronze medal winner and being the only 4x heavyweight world champ in the history of the sport. He was also an undisputed champion in cruiserweight and heavyweight in the 3 belt era. Those are acomplishments that will be really hard to beat.

UFC Vegas 59 went down on Saturday night from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event of the evening, Jamahal Hill stopped Thiago Santos via strikes in the fourth round. Hill stopped former title challenger Thiago Santos via technical knockout at 2 minutes 31 seconds mark of the fourth round in the main event of UFC Fight Night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Hill dropped Santos with punches and then finished things with a flurry on the ground. Santos tried to defend on the mat, but Hill landed elbows until referee Herb Dean stopped the fight. It wasn’t the only highlight of the event that went down on Saturday night as Geoff Neal and Muhammad Usman also won in emphatic fashion. Julianna Miller also won the female Ultimate Fighter Series after an impressive performance. Surprisingly, Usman is the younger brother of UFC’s welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. They are the first pair of brothers who both have won the Ultimate Fighter series. Jamahal Hill is proving to be the dark horse in the light heavyweight division of the UFC. He once again put all the fighters in his division on alert after his amazing performance against a top veteran Thiago Santos. Hill was unranked going into this bout but he was recently moved to sixth place in the light heavyweight rankings. This might be a huge uplift for ‘Sweet Dreams’ as he stretched his winning streak to three wins after beating Santos since his last defeat back at UFC two sixty three. With Hill’s victory the state of the light heavyweight division seems spiced up a bit as there are upcoming contenders ready to close the gap up top. UFC two seventy seven saw Magomed Ankalaev win over Anthony Smith and make his mark on the division as well. While Jan Blachowicz is eagerly waiting to get another shot to the title after his anticlimactic win over Alexander Rakic. However, the newly crowned champion Jiri Prochazka made it clear in his recent video that he will offer the rematch to Glover Teixeira. Those two fought at UFC two seventy five in Singapore and engaged in an absolute war. Prochazka managed to win the bout with only 25 seconds left in the fight as he submitted Teixeira to win the UFC Light heavyweight championship. Interestingly, Jamahal Hill has clearly spoken out of his intentions to fight the current Champion next. Many experts believe that a title shot for Hill would be a little too early as he needs to go through fighters of higher caliber. Santos was no doubt a tough test for ‘Sweet Dreams’ but coming into the fight Santos only had one win in his last five bouts. Meanwhile, Hill has only one loss on his record when he lost against Paul Craig back at UFC two sixty three. Furthermore, Jamahal Hill was also a critic of his own performance after the fight. He thought that he could have done much better in specific situations which Santos put him in. He wants to work on his game, especially on the ground. Santos was successful in taking Hill down five times, that's why he wasn’t a fan of his own performance. Indeed it is a positive sign for Hill to diagnose his own weaknesses as he is only going to face tougher competition if he aims to wrap that Light heavyweight gold around his waist. Ever since Jon Jones left the division back in 2020 there have been three different champions in a span of two years. This signifies that the division lacks a proper champion. Jiri Prochazka has shown signs of becoming a true champion but only time will tell if he can defend the belt against the upcoming challengers. As far as Jamahal Hill is considered, it seems that the sky's the limit for the thirty one year old. Let’s not forget, Hill only made his UFC debut three years ago coming out of Contender Series, and he already has a bevy of impressive wins on his resume, and taking out a former title contender only adds to his bragging rights. The competition will only get tougher from here on out, but the 31-year-old Hill is more than capable, so expect amazing things from him in his upcoming battle.

Negociations for Conner Benn V.S Chris Eubank Jr have finalized. The fight is set for october 8th in London England. This is the biggest rivalry in modern english history. This rivalry that both their fathers had has now entered the next generation. Its a grudge match that started with their fathers Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr. This fight will be one of the biggest fights in modern british history just like their fathers fights in the 90's. It took weeks of negociations but its finally official and set for october 8th. This fight will not be a championship fight. It will be a catchweight bout at 156lbs. Conner Benn stated that this fight is personal and its all about legacy, its bigger than titles, this is unfinished family business. It seems the boxing gods left the best for the final part of the year.

On august 20th Anthony Joshua will try to regain his titles and become 3x world champion when he fights World Heavyweight Champion Olexsandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia in their much anticipated rematch. Anthony Joshua believes he can beat Usyk this time around and become 3x world champion and ofcourse people started with the comparisons between A.J and the great Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield who is the only 4x world champion in heavyweight división history. To win and become 3x world champ A.J has no easy task, he must beat the man who beat him last time out, the highly skilled world champ Oleksandr Usyk. Alot is riding on this heavyweight championship fight for A.J, not only to regain his belts but for a possible fight with heavyweight WBC champ Tyson Fury that will be surely waiting on the winner.

Jackie "La Princesa Azteca" Nava (39-4-4) says goodbye to boxing after 20 years of boxing profesionally. Her last bout will be on october 1st in her hometown of Tijuana México. Event will be held in La Plaza Monumental. She said in press confrence that the decisión came because she needs more time to attend her family and to finish other projects in her life and to start new things that she wants to do like being a motivational speaker at conferences. Even at 42 years old she is still one of boxing dominant woman champions. This year she won the WBC Diamond belt against another great Mariana "Barbie" Juárez .
