The UFC is on a roll these days trying to put on the baddest matches for the end of the year Pay Per View events. After announcing an insane card for UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi, they are now moving UFC 281 to one of the most iconic sporting arenas in the world. We are talking about none other than Madison Square Garden. UFC is known to host at least one event at the iconic MSG in a calendar year. It will be the first time that the UFC will be heading to Madison Square Garden this year, the last event held at MSG was a classic UFC 268 card. UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has just confirmed on the ESPN SportsCenter that he will be taking on his arch nemesis Alex Pereira at UFC 281 main event. This is the fight which every MMA fan was waiting for. After Alex Pereira absolutely demolished Sean Strickland at UFC 276, he instantly called out ‘The last style bender’ and even urged the crowd to support Adesanya to win against Cannonier so that the Brazilian can face the current middleweight champion for the third time. The rivalry between Adesanya and Pereira dates back to their kickboxing days. The pair fought each other on two occasions and Pereira was victorious on both occasions. They fought for the first time in a three-round bout at Glory of Heroes 1: Shenzhen, where Pereira would capture a unanimous decision victory. The two would then rematch a year later at Glory of Heroes 7 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with differing results for both sides. The reigning UFC Middleweight Champion would see a lot of success in the rematch, winning many of the exchanges. However, Adesanya made the same mistake as Strickland recently did and he got too comfortable only for the ‘stone hands’ to land a perfect left hook on the chin and handing Adesanya’s his only brutal knockout defeat. After the loss Adesanya transitioned to MMA. The road to UFC middleweight title has been quite fast paced for Pereira as he only joined UFC in September 2021. He bagged three victories in his first year in the organization out of which the most recent was at UFC 276 where he knocked out Sean Strickland out cold. The other two victories came against Bruno Silva in March and Andreas in November last year. This is the perfect opportunity for Pereira to make his mark once again on the biggest stage. At this time, it was obvious that the UFC's greatest promotional move would be to expedite the kickboxing champion's next match with Adesanya in the depleted Middleweight division. He not only has two victories over the reigning champion, but he is also a powerful puncher. On the other hand, revenge will be on Adesanya’s mind as he will be thinking to get one over his bitter rival. Therefore after successfully defending his title at UFC 276, he also acknowledged that his next opponent will be no other than the powerful Brazilian. There is no doubt that the hype for this fight is absolutely insane. Even Dana White acknowledged that the fight between these two fighters would be an absolute war. Alex Pereira is not the type of fighter to enter the cage with a defensive approach and try to survive for five rounds hoping that there would be a chance to catch Adesanya off guard. He will try to impose pressure on the champion and engage in brutal exchanges hoping to knock him out once again. This is one of the most common mistakes which Jared Cannonier and Marvin Vettori made, and they lost the bout against The Last Style Bender. However, Whittaker was the one who came close to dethroning Adesanya back at UFC 271 with his wrestling approach but failed to please the judges. One of the key factors of this fight would be the hype around it as we move closer to November 12, the pressure in both the fighter’s camps would be increasing. Despite the buildup, the current middleweight champion is known to thrive under pressure situations. Whenever the chips are against him, he rises to the occasion and performs spectacularly. Recently Adesanya has been at the receiving end of criticism from the fans due to his defensive approach in his last three fights which went the full distance. The main event for UFC 281 promises to light up Madison Square Garden. It has the potential to draw huge pay per view numbers as Chandler vs Poirier are likely to be the co main event. On saturday august 13th one of boxing best is back for another "Takeover". Teofimo Lopez (16-1-0) is back this saturday against tuff rugged veteran Pedro Campa (34-1-0). He is also making his Junior Welterweight debut. Many are curious to see if Teofimo still packs a punch in this heavier weight división and to see if he is injury free. Pedro Campa is a good test for anybody especially in this heavier división where he has a height and size advantage and he also has a good record with only one defeat to Carlos Jiménez back in 2017. Alot changes in 5 years. Campa is set to make it an upset rather than another takeover. Also on the card, young up and coming prospect Xander Zayas will go against Elias"Latin Kid" Espadas. Whether Jorge Masvidal is active inside the octagon or not, one thing is for sure that he is always the center of attention whenever he speaks to the media. This time was no different as Masvidal caught up with a journalist ahead of his promotion’s iKON FC 4 event on Friday, which takes place at the Savannah Convention Center and took this opportunity to talk smack about the rising Swede. It is evident that Masvidal is not a fan of Khamzat’s hype as he will be stepping up inside the octagon against the one and only Nate Diaz. Khamzat will be headlining the main event at UFC 279, it will be the Swede’s first main event ever. However, Masvidal was quick to dismiss Khamzat’s intention of destroying Nate Diaz whereas many have thought that it is the worst matchup for Diaz. Not many are giving Nate Diaz a slightest chance to put a halt to Khamzat’s hype train but Masvidal thinks that Diaz has the tools to create a huge upset. Masvidal does have history with Diaz as he fought him back in 2019 at Madison Square Garden for the BMF title. He won the bout via a doctor stoppage but since then he has failed to register a win against Usman twice and Covington back in March at UFC 272 Khamzat Chimaev did not mince words while responding to the recent comments made by fellow UFC star Jorge Masvidal. Those comments obviously struck a nerve with the surging welterweight contender, as he proceeded to roast Masvidal for his previous knockout loss to Kamaru Usman. This is not the first time that Masvidal has chosen to talk smack against Khamzat. He also put the claims of his hype to bed when he appeared in the ‘Impaulsive’ podcast hosted by YouTube star Logan Paul. Furthermore, it will be interesting to see when Masvidal will be returning to the action inside the octagon. His last loss obviously was a bitter one to take by his friend turned foe Colby Covington. The BMF is also following felony charges due to him attacking Colby Covington outside a bar. When asked who he will be willing to face once he makes his returns he mentioned Gilbert Burns and Leon Edwards. But the BMF has also given a warning to Notorious Conor McGregor to fight him. No doubt that will be a massive fight should Conor proceed to sign the dotted line. It will have the potential to break all the Pay per view records because of the star power those two fighters possess. Masvidal has made it clear that he would be willing to break Khamzat’s face once he is back up and running but one thing should be kept in mind that Masvidal will soon be turning thirty eight years old in December and there might not be much room for improvement especially in terms of wrestling. His weaknesses were exposed when he was outwrestled in his last bout at UFC 272. He has also confessed that wrestling is the area where he needs to make adjustments. If that’s the case then Gamebred’s best interest will be to better stay away from Khamzat because he is no doubt a beast when it comes to grappling. There are rumors that Gilbert Burns will be an ideal opponent to face Masvidal and Burns already seems to accept the fight with the ‘no takedown’ rules. As much as the fans love Masvidal they also want to see him win as he enters the twilight of his career. Fight.TV's review of UFC 277 - This card had a lot of great match ups and some of these highlights may be shown for the next decade. Amanda Nunes got her revenge in the main event fighting Julianna Peña for a second time, regaining the Women's Bantamweight championship by unanimous decision. The co-main event of the evening was a flyweight bout between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France. Brandon Moreno won via KO by liver kick at 4 minutes and 34 seconds left in the 3rd round. The Heavyweight bout of the night was quick but entertaining none the less. Derrick Lewis vs Sergei Pavlovich had us wondering who would come out on top. Sergei knocked Lewis down with a left hook in the first 55 seconds, causing the ref to stop it via TKO. Lewis protested and wants to continue. The call is in hot debate right now. Our Flyweight fight of the night was between Alexandre Pantoja and Alex Perez, it lead to round 1 Submission with a minute and 31 seconds in with a standing neck crank. There was another TKO of the night in a Light Heavyweight bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Anthony Smith. Days back, Poirier and Chandler engaged in an altercation at T Mobile arena in Las Vegas at the cage side. A heated argument between the top-ranking lightweight UFC champ was recorded and uploaded by Gilbert Buns— a welterweight contender. Jiri Prochazka— the UFC light heavyweight champion— unveiled the mystery that Dustin was presumably the initiator of the verbal skirmish. Jiri shared, "I was closest, next to Dustin, and he started to be aggressive, to talk some trash talks and all this stuff for Michael." He further added by cracking a joke, "but I saved them [laughter]. I just watched that and there was a guy from the UFC and they tried to fix it". Dustin labeled Michael Chandler as 'Fake' after saying, "I'm going to f***k you up." There are speculations all-round about a potential fight between Poirier and Chandler. There are some spaces in the calendar where fans anxiously await a matchup, especially in November. However, Dustin seems more interested in an Octagon fight with Chandler. In contrast, when Chandler was inquired about the desire for a fight, he replied, "that's the opposite way to get a fight with me. I'm not here for physical altercations in a public forum." He added, "I didn't want to fight him; if I end up fighting him, he's going to be knocked out." Chandler has just knocked out Tony Ferguson with a front kick in May this year. On other hand, Poirier has been out of the ring since December 2021 after being chocked by Charles Oliveira in UFC 269. Allegedly, this December defeat of Dustin Poirier can be the potential reason behind Poirier vs Chandler's altercations. Chandler commented, "he'd never quit in a big game like Poirier did" after Poirier's December defeat but later walks back on his words. 'Problem Child' is often criticized for having high-end coaches and all the excess essentials. But, in reality, boxing fundamentals of Jake are pretty impressive. Strong fundamentals don't mean he is at the levels of Canelo Alvarez or Tyson Fury. It won't be wise to compare him with the game's greats. He's a young lad, relatively newer in the town! Still, he has beaten two former MMA world champions. Paul's confidence is matchless. Jake backslides his prey to build his worth. With his clever, super-hyped talks and erratic fighting style, he has already occupied Rehman Jr's mind. That's why, after double withdrawal by Tommy Fury, Jake is ready to face Hashim Rehman Jr— son of famous heavyweight star Hashim Rehman. This is going to be an exciting encounter as both have a natural dislike between them. Both are knockout specialists; trained by experts. 6th August will unveil the mystery of whether the backsliding and jabbing of Jake win. Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena will headline UFC 277 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on July 30. She will attempt to fix the biggest upset of her career in MMA history since UFC 269 last December. Peña upset Nunes at MMA at UFC 269 in December when she submitted Nunes for her bantamweight title and snapped a seven-year win streak of "The Lions". The two fighters were coaching against one other in the current season of The Ultimate Fighter. It will be a fierce fight between the two top female fighters in their division. Plus it will be interesting to see if Nunes remains the favorite to win back the title. Nunes is not better than Pena in every aspect of MMA and many people realize that losing to Pena in 2021 was an off night for Nunes or best night of Pena's career. The odds on the rematch between Pena vs Nunes are significantly different and this makes things very interesting. Nunes has not seen such difficulties since upsetting Cris Cyborg in 2018 and this makes her a reasonable favorite to win. On the other hand, if you believe that Pena won the first fight because of what she did right and not what Nunes did wrong, then Pina is worth choosing. This is going to be an all out war. It seems that the month of July has not been good for the UFC. One after another event could not meet the expectations of the UFC. Earlier we saw Brian Ortega's July 16th clash against Yair Rodriguez go down with a shoulder injury and then we see a highly anticipated heavyweight matchup between Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall that ended in just 15 seconds in the first round. Bellator MMA's only event in July, Bellator 283, went into full swing on Friday at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash. The main event was the fight between the former Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima and the fourth-ranked welterweight Jason Jackson. Lima was riding a three-fight losing skid, with his most recent outing a split decision loss to Michael Page at Bellator 267 in October of last year. Jackson, on the other hand, was riding a five-fight winning streak with a decision victory at Bellator 260 in his most recent bout. Jackson vs. Lima highlights: Lima faces an impressive Jackson who comes off the back of recent wins over Neiman Gracie and Paul Daley. Although Lima was interested in focusing on his leg kicks early in the fight, it took just over 90 seconds for Jackson to land the first takedown, putting Lima on the floor. After the end of the fight, As everyone knew and expected, Jackson took the decision via three comprehensive scorecards that all read 50-45. With the win, Jackson would have earned a title shot, with Jackson stating that he would like to fight the winner of welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov and interim champion Logan Storley, who they would face to unify the titles. It is expected. Jackson, claiming that there was no one else left to fight to earn a title shot, also ruled out a possible future match with Michael "Venom" Page. In which the ONE world champion of two divisions, Reinier de Ridder, once again proved himself unbeatable with a great performance against the former champion Vitaly Bigdash. On Friday, De Ridder defended his light heavyweight title with a first-round submission of Vitaly Bigdash at ONE Championship 159 in Singapore. "The Dutch Knight" survived an early guillotine scare and then took control of the fight on the floor, latching onto an inverted triangle choke during a position change that put Bigdash to sleep at the 3:29 mark of Round 1. Saturday's main event, UFC Fight Night 208, is set for action at London's O2. As we know before the event all the fighters have to go through weigh ins to enter the cage against one another.
