- Pacquiao Blames Loss On Leg Cramps
Manny lost by unanimous decision to his title offense bout against Yordenis Ugas last week. I love Pacman, I'm a huge fan and always have been. I just don't agree here and will explain why. Manny - "In my entire career, Ugas was one of the easiest opponents. He only had one style, and I should have been able to easily move away. Youâve seen how Iâve moved in my fights before. I couldnât move in this fight. My legs just stopped." Fight fans, commentators, other boxers have come out and said that Manny didn't display the speed and power we're used to seeing him at. He may have won some of the earlier rounds but he still looked sluggish. Maybe Pacman did have leg cramps and certain factors that effected his performance. Kurt Angle won Olympic gold wrestling with a broken neck. Nick Newell dominates his opponents and he's fighting with ONE hand. Rich Franklin had a broken arm when he knocked out Chuck Liddell. I am surprised to see Pacman giving excuses, I'm sure he's not lying and really had leg cramps but. Fight sports are the one place that we don't make room for excuses. Manny is an icon and should set the pace for future fighters. Why can't he just admit Ugas got the best of him? If he didn't think he could win through pre fight issues, why did he continue and not back out like Spence did? We all still love Manny but dude, own your loss. Give credit to Ugas. You're getting older and that's okay. It's not time for you to be a world champ anymore, it's about time you help coach the next one. Nothing but love!
- Way Of Martial Arts - Belt Rankings
Fight.TV and Wayofmartialarts.com are bringing you a curation of views on the state of martial arts today on this blog post. What better way to discuss the way of martial arts, than to talk about the belt system. Martial arts belt systems are derived from in East Asia and most commonly assosciated with ancient china. Although many argue it wasn't karate but Judo or Taekwondo that set the pace with the belt system. Regardless, today we know there's a belt system for almost every martial art from jiujitsu to karate. You always start with a white belt because traditionally, that's a new belt. As the O.G's would train, their belt would change color. It would go from white to yellow, then turn green after months and years of training. After about a decade, your once white belt would now be some shade of brown or black. Hence, black belts. Back in the day if you saw a dude with a black belt, it was the equivalent of cauliflower ears. A warning sign of consistent grind in the art of whooping butt. Now a days, belts come a little easier. You actually get them in the color of your martial arts rank by testing or proving yourself to your teacher instead of like just sweating on it for 10 years. Imagine what a real black belt must have smelt like. Probably a highschool football locker room x 100. Many people are concerned with the direction of belt systems today. As martial arts studios are being dubbed "mc-dojo's" for doing things like giving away black belts in a year or allowing 9 year olds to earn black belts. Gracie Jiujitsu has come under scrutiny in the BJJ community because of their online video jiujitsu program where you can earn your belts by sending them videos of you reciting submissions, escapes, over videofeed to send back to them after watching their instructional videos. Nothin is worse than going into a gym and rolling with a guy who calls himself a black belt and knowing the guy is fudging it. It's rare but it happens and there's instructors out there who aren't the rank they claim to be. Martial arts is a diverse field of people from all walks of life. Traditionally the way is to earn your spot through consistent effort and grinding. Putting in those hours. To those who have done that, it's very disheartening to see belts given away. Watering down the community. Other don't see it as much of an issue. What do you think? Should our belt systems revert to the old days of letting it change color on it's own? Can we balance a modern system that has clean new belts but still makes you earn them? Can children really earn the title of blackbelt? Share and let us know what you think!
- Jake Paul Pays MMA Vet More Than Entire Career's Earnings
Anthony Taylor 7-5-0 is on a 5 fight win streak and has been competing in promotions like Bellator since 2015. He's been Jake Pauls sparring partner for the upcoming Woodley fight and has already been paid more than his entire fight career earnings. To which Anthony has said is "Disturbing." I 100% agree with the guy. A lot of us, I was even guilty of it. Have been really upset about Youtube boy coming into combat sports and skipping the rank climb grind to go straight for near retirees smaller than him. It's created a lot of controversy, brought attention to his fights, sold PPV's, and given him a platform to talk about fighter pay. Anthony said - "Iâm getting paid more money as Jakeâs training partner in two months than I made in my whole entire MMA career in six years. I swear to god, I made more money with Jake in two months than my whole MMA career. Thatâs disturbing when you think about it, because I fought for Bellator. Iâve fought two top five contenders in Bellator and I had a good run. Itâs time to take it up a notch and fight for the UFC.â Which interestingly enough, Bellator pays it's fighters around 40% of what they do in revenue while UFC pays it's fighters closer to 10%. So it's hard to say what Anthony Taylors next best move is you can guarantee he's not gonna keep quiet about fighter compensation after this.
- Kris Moutinho VS Aaron Phillips Confirmed
Kris Moutinho went viral after his recent bout with O'malley at UFC 264. The ref called the fight in the third round with Kris begging to be allowed to continue. "Let me go down on my shield" as he put it. Which is very admirable and fight fans loved this. It just goes to show that even if you lose, by never giving up - you make people want to watch you fight. Fans felt like Moutinho is gonna give them their moneys worth. Modern day gladiator, out there willing to risk it all just to compete in the sport they love. Reading the comments on social media about Moutinho, you can tell he's gonna have a cool nickname soon and we're gonna get to watch him grow as a fighter. The guy is already 9-5-0 professionally, with his first fight in the UFC out of the way and on to the next. Aaron Phillips 12-4-0, has yet to win a fight in the UFC but already received 2 of his losses in that promotion. He'll be making his return bout and hoping to finally get that UFC win against Kris Moutinho this October at a location and date to be determined soon! This fight has nasty brutal combat written all over it. Fight fans are sure to get their moneys worth here. Do you think this is a good matchup? Share and let us know what you think!
- Anthony Joshua On Oleksandr Usyk
Anthony Joshua will be defending his WBA, WBO, and IBF Heavyweight titles against Oleksandr Usyk on September 25th in London. Anthony had lot's to say to Sky Sports about the upcoming bout and what his plans are. "You can either be aggressive, corner - throw everything at him. Or take your time, be clever, then knock him out." Is what Joshua said in terms of his plans. So we can assume he plans to fight defensivley or at least save his aggressive onslaughts towards the later rounds. Joshua went on to talk about Usyk's footwork, how it's unique and will be troubling for him if anything is to prove challenging in this bout. "Concentration, when you want to punch, you lock in, then make a move. You have to make sure your brain works. That can be mentally fatiguing so I am sharpening the mind so that I can concentrate for the 12 rounds. Also I practice having the ability to punch four times, not just once." Solid game plan Anthony. Usyk is undefeated as a lower weight class and will be stepping up to heavyweight to challenge Joshua. This will be very interesting as we've seen dominant fighters like The Last Stylebender get shutdown after climbing into a new weightclass to challenge the champ. Joshua is the heavyweight local, and is used to fighting at that weight. Only time will tell! Who is your betting favorite in the mix?! Share this and tell the world what you think!
- Joe Rogan's GOAT Pick - Khabib
Joe Rogan is no stranger to heavy opinions and there really isn't a bigger rage inducing argumentative opinion out there other than "Whose the greatest of all time." In Joe's mind the answer is clear - Khabib Nurmagomedov. Joe had lot's to say about this âBecause in my opinion Khabib is probably the best candidate, because Khabib not only did he not lose a fight, he barely lost a round. He lost maybe one round to Conor, and it seemed like he was just taking the round off, like to kind of you know preserve his energy, so he could finish Conor afterwards, and he did. He wound up finishing him.â âKhabib has never been in trouble in a fight. Michael Johnson tagged him once, and Michael Johnson is a guy that doesnât get nearly enough respect. Yeah, heâs had some rough losses, but Michael Johnson knocked out Dustin Poirier with one punch. Michael Johnson was a dangerous dangerous man, and he still is. And he tagged Khabib, it probably had Khabib in the most trouble ever in a fight, he had him wobbled. But, Khabib ultimately won that fight and destroyed him. I mean he was pounding on him, he was telling him quit now quit now, you know I deserve the title shot, beating it out of him, and then put him in a kimura and tapped him. Itâs arguable Khabib is the greatest of all time.ââ Do you agree with Joe? Who do you think is the GOAT? Personally I think Joe might be right but I think there's still some stones left unturned here. Who is your GOAT!?!?
- Should Israel Adesanya Attempt 205 Again?
The current UFC Middleweight champion is no other than Israel Adesanya, The Last Stylebender. He's regarded as one of the best strikers in all of combat sports and a phenom whose thirst for victory is relentless. Seriously just look at all but one of his opponents, with his fight record of 21-1-0. Adesanya attempted to fight Jan Blachowicz back in March at UFC 259 but lost by unanimous decision. It was his first attempt at a light heavyweight UFC bout after dominating the middleweight class for the past few years. While Adesanya might have been stiffened trying to climb divisions and go after two titles. It was an admirable attempt that most fighters don't even begin to attempt. Israel may attempt 205 again and this time would have to likely fight contenders versus and instant title shot. I think had The Last Stylebender been forced to fight contenders first, it might have been a much different scenario. He went 5 rounds with the 205 champ and didn't do too bad. HE's not used to competing at that weight. Had he taken the time to feel his style out more at that size, we could have seen a very different fight with a contender instead of a champ. What do you think fight fans? Should he stay at middleweight or try his hand at light-heavyweight again?
- When Chael Sonnen's Mom Almost Shot Yushin Okami
It's no secret that Chael Sonnen is an MMA GOAT, with lots of friends in the fight scene, and lots of crazy stories. This one is of no exception. It turns out that Chael is really good friends with Yushin Okami. Yushin had stayed at Claudia Sonnen's home before while traveling for training and fights and such. This time was different! Yushin had planned to stay at a hotel somewhere and then last minute decided to change his mind. He wasn't expected at Claudia's, his arrival woke her up and set off the houses alarm. Alarmed, Claudia jumped out of bed. Scrambled towards the window to jump out but fell. She then decided it was too risky to run for it, and she needed to grab her gun. So she's hearing this thudding outside her door. It's Yushin, turning back and forth at the alarm trying to turn it off with the code Chael had given him, with his backpack smacking her bedroom door each time. Claudia was terrified. She let out a warning - "I have a gun!" to which she heard back - "It's Yushin. Yushin Okami." She sighed with releif and gave him a hug. We're really glad to know that Yushin survived the encounter and Claudia didn't decide to send slugs through her bedroom door at the noise across from her.

- Jake Paul Hounds UFC Fighter Pay
The Problem Child is living up to his nickname in that he brings a lot of controversy and animosity to boxing. Jake Paul has done the opposite of traditionally climbing ranks, and gone straight to prizefights. He seems to try to pick his opponents for his advantage, ones that aren't solely boxers or are smaller than him. Hopefully this is only to raise animosity and build up peoples want to watch him fight. All being channeled to bring more fans to combat sports, raise PPV sales, and ultimately help fighters might be Jakes real plan. Regardless of what you think about Jake Paul, one thing you should respect about him is his relentless onslaught on UFC fighter pay. UFC fighters are some of the lowest payed athletes in the world compared to the revenue they generate and the % they get paid. UFC fighters are getting somewhere around 10% where Bellator fighters are getting closer to 50%. Jake Paul in his interview with MMA Fighting said - âThey canât advocate for fighter pay because Dana White will just shunt them, and a lot of the times itâs the same thing with some of these boxing promoters who sign young stars and lock them up into super long contracts. But I see how hard fighting is, I see how hard these fighters work, and the fact that itâs so skewed versus any other sport and itâs the most dangerous sport out of all of them? There needs to be a change there and Iâm actually starting to affect Dana Whiteâs business.â So it's easy to see where he stands. He also made it very clear he wants fighters to get more payouts on their cards. So any fighter on a card with Jake will get a good deal. Regardless what you think about Jake Paul, try to keep in mind that animosity sells fights. If you try to look at the bigger picture, I think you'll see he's a genuine dude who want's to help the sport grow. Now if he'll just fight a boxer in his weight-class!
