Muay Thai, often known as the "Art of Eight Limbs," is not just about physical strength; it requires a perfect mix of strategy, stamina, and mental toughness. Among the top athletes in this sport, Abedali Zahidi shines as a remarkable figure. His rise to success is bolstered by rigorous training, specialized techniques, and comprehensive mental preparation. In this post, we take a closer look at the training secrets of Abedali Zahidi, focusing on his daily routine, tactics, and mental strategies that make him an elite Muay Thai fighter. Daily Training Routine Abedali's training routine is a blend of intense workouts aimed at developing strength, speed, and agility. He typically starts his day at 5:30 AM with a range of cardiovascular exercises. Recognizing the importance of a solid cardiovascular foundation, he runs between six to eight kilometers on various terrains to build endurance. His runs often include intervals, which can be timed at 1-minute sprints followed by 2-minute walks, allowing his body to adapt to varying paces and conditions. After his run, Abedali focuses on core strengthening exercises such as planks, sit-ups, and leg raises. For example, he completes three sets of 15 leg raises to enhance core stability, crucial for executing powerful strikes during fights. Next, he dives into technical drills, which include partner exercises, shadowboxing, and bag work. During these sessions, Abedali practices striking techniques with elbows, knees, and teeps for up to two hours. He believes that mastering each movement is vital, aiming to make his responses instinctive during bouts. In the afternoon, Abedali often engages in sparring sessions with different partners, which can last approximately two hours. This live practice allows him to blend his techniques and adapt his strategies, a critical skill for any fighter facing real challenges in the ring. His training routine is complemented by strength training, emphasizing functional exercises like deadlifts and squats. Nutrition is key to his success; he consumes meals rich in protein, complex carbohydrates, and plenty of water. For instance, a typical lunch might include grilled chicken, quinoa, and mixed vegetables, ensuring he has the energy needed for intense training. To aid recovery, Abedali incorporates yoga and stretching into his routine. This not only maintains his flexibility but also helps him prevent injuries that could hinder his performance. Specialized Techniques and Strategies A unique aspect of Abedali's training is his focus on specialized techniques that align with his fighting style. He combines traditional Muay Thai moves with modern strategies to enhance his adaptability. For example, he often incorporates movement patterns inspired by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and boxing, providing him with varied approaches to combat situations. A standout technique for Abedali is his deceptive footwork, combined with explosive strikes. He practices this in the gym, where he might perform 30 minutes of footwork drills, allowing him to quickly create and exploit openings against opponents. Distance management is another vital skill. Abedali dedicates time to drills that reinforce maintaining optimal distance, giving him the chance to strike effectively while avoiding counters. Studies show that effective distance management can reduce a fighter's chance of taking significant damage by almost 40%. Video analysis plays a crucial role in his training. After each practice, he and his coaches review recordings, which helps identify areas for improvement and refine successful tactics. This analytical approach not only enhances technique but also develops effective game plans for future matches. Abedali understands the importance of mental training. He practices mindfulness strategies to stay calm and focused during pressures of competition. His adaptability allows him to alter his tactics quickly based on his opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, adding a strategic edge in the ring. Mental Preparation for Fights The mental aspect of training often sets champions apart from contenders, and Abedali Zahidi uses various techniques to bolster his mental toughness. As a fight nears, his mental preparation intensifies. He engages in daily visualization exercises, where he imagines different fight scenarios. Visualization helps him prepare not only physically but also psychologically, allowing him to anticipate the unpredictability of live matches. Abedali also practices mindfulness meditation, which assists in sharpening his focus and reducing pre-fight anxiety. This method helps him stay grounded and enables clarity as he steps into the ring. Positive affirmations are a central part of his routine, reinforcing his confidence in his skills. For example, he might repeat phrases like “I am strong and capable” during his morning sessions. This form of psychological support strengthens his belief in his abilities. Open communication with his coaches and peers is vital for Abedali. Seeking feedback fosters growth and prevents self-doubt during crucial times. By surrounding himself with a supportive team, he creates a strong safety net crucial during high-stakes fights. When fight day arrives, the culmination of these mental exercises comes to life. With the spotlight shining and the crowd cheering, Abedali enters the ring prepared not just to compete but to triumph. Final Thoughts Abedali Zahidi represents the dedication, strategic thinking, and mental resilience necessary for success in Muay Thai. His comprehensive training routine, unique techniques, and mental preparedness equip him for consistent high-level performance. For aspiring fighters and fans, understanding Abedali’s training regimen offers valuable insights that reach beyond physical training. The focus on mental strength and the ability to adapt swiftly are key lessons from his journey. Ultimately, it is more than just physical training that shapes a champion. It is about the unwavering pursuit of excellence in all areas of the sport. Abedali Zahidi's approach to Muay Thai is a powerful reminder of what hard work, resilience, and a fighting spirit can achieve, inspiring anyone on their path, both inside and outside the ring.
- Ryan Garcia Set to Face Rukiya Anpo in Explosive RIZIN Exhibition
Ryan Garcia, one of boxing’s most captivating figures, is making his much-anticipated return to the ring. The former lightweight contender, currently serving a suspension due to a failed drug test, is stepping back into the spotlight in an exhibition match against former kickboxing champion Rukiya Anpo. The event is scheduled for December 30 in Tokyo, Japan, as part of the RIZIN Fighting Federation’s year-end spectacle. Garcia’s last fight ended in controversy after he tested positive for Ostarine following his April victory over Devin Haney, which was overturned to a no-contest. Alongside a one-year suspension, Garcia was fined $1.1 million. Yet, this hasn’t dimmed his confidence or hunger to prove himself. “I’m looking forward to knocking Anpo out for trying to knock out the legend Manny Pacquiao,” said Garcia in a statement. “Manny is past his prime, and for him to try to knock him out rubbed me the wrong way. I will knock him out and teach him a lesson of respect.” Anpo, a former kickboxing champion, enters the ring with momentum from his recent exhibition against Pacquiao in July, which ended in a draw. His striking skills and resilience make him a formidable opponent, setting the stage for a thrilling clash. The bout is set at a catchweight of 153 pounds and will consist of eight two-minute rounds. Fans eager to witness this showdown can tune in live on Fanmio Pay-Per-View at 9 p.m. ET. As the fight draws closer, all eyes are on Garcia to see if he can re-establish his reputation or if Anpo will deliver an upset. Either way, this highly-anticipated match promises fireworks to close out the year.
- Dana White Blasts UFC Rankings Panel After Jon Jones Misses Top Pound-for-Pound Spot
UFC CEO Dana White erupted on social media following the latest pound-for-pound rankings, where Jon Jones was placed behind lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. This controversy comes in the aftermath of Jones’ dominant defense of his heavyweight title at UFC 309, where he certainly stopped former champion Stipe Miocic. Jones now boasts an impressive record of 28-1-1, with his sole loss stemming from a contentious disqualification. Despite this historic achievement, the UFC rankings panel—a group of media members responsible for voting on the standings—opted to retain Makhachev as the pound-for-pound king. Makhachev (26-1) most recently defended his lightweight title with a submission victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 302 in June. White did not hold back his frustration, taking to Instagram to criticize the panel. “I have to get rid of these CLOWNS!!” White wrote. “Zuck, let’s get this AI deal done ASAP!!!!!” The reference to Mark Zuckerberg highlights White’s desire to overhaul the current ranking system using artificial intelligence. For now, rankings are compiled based on votes from media members. Fighters eligible for voting must hold active status in the UFC, and champions are automatically placed at the top of their weight classes but remain eligible for pound-for-pound consideration. The methodology has often faced criticism, with this latest controversy reigniting debates over its fairness and transparency. Jon Jones’ unparalleled resume includes title reigns in the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. Many fans and pundits argue that his accomplishments, particularly his recent demolition of Miocic, warrant the top spot in the pound-for-pound rankings. As the debate rages on, it remains to be seen whether White’s push for change will alter the landscape of UFC rankings. In the meantime, Jones solidifies his case as the sport’s greatest, regardless of his placement in the rankings.

- Shinya Aoki Returns to Grappling Against Rising Star Cole Abate at ONE Championship in December
Japanese MMA legend and submission grappling icon Shinya Aoki is set to return to his grappling roots at ONE Championship’s upcoming event on December 6 in Singapore. The promotion announced that Aoki, known as “Tobikan Judan,” will face Brazilian jiu-jitsu prodigy Cole Abate in a highly anticipated submission grappling contest. This marks Aoki’s return to competition under grappling rules after his last appearance in the ONE cage in January. On that occasion, Aoki showcased his submission mastery, tapping out John Lineker in an impromptu openweight bout. The fight came together after Lineker stepped in as a late replacement for Sage Northcutt. Aoki, one of MMA’s most celebrated submission artists, looks to bounce back from a challenging stretch of fights. Before his win over Lineker, the Japanese veteran endured a four-fight losing streak. Two of those losses came in MMA via knockouts to Saygid Izagakhmaev and Yoshihiro Akiyama, while the other two were grappling defeats against young jiu-jitsu phenoms Kade Ruotolo and Mikey Musumeci. Standing across from Aoki will be 20-year-old Cole Abate, a black belt under Guilherme Lemos and one of the brightest rising stars in the grappling world. Abate burst onto the scene by winning the ADCC East Coast Trials in 2021 as a 16-year-old blue belt. Most recently, he added to his resume with a gold medal at the 2024 IBJJF Pan Championship No-Gi. The clash of styles between Aoki’s seasoned grappling expertise and Abate’s youthful energy and modern techniques promises a captivating battle for grappling enthusiasts. The submission grappling contest will be part of the ONE Fight Night 26 card. The event is headlined by an MMA title bout between reigning champion Christian Lee and Alibeg Rasulov, ensuring an action-packed night for combat sports fans.
- Dana White Declares Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira Matchup Unlikely After UFC 309
UFC 309 solidified Jon Jones' legacy as one of the greatest fighters in mixed martial arts history. In a dominant display, Jones dismantled Stipe Miocic, showcasing a flawless mix of grappling and striking before delivering a spectacular spinning back kick to secure his victory. However, this commanding performance may have derailed his aspirations for a much-anticipated matchup against Alex Pereira, the reigning light heavyweight champion. Dana White, UFC CEO, was resolute in his post-fight press conference: “You know what tonight told me? There’s no f*cking way I make the Pereira fight. Jon’s too big. [Jon is a] great wrestler. Did you see how he took Stipe down in that first round? I like Alex Pereira. I like him personally. It just doesn’t make sense to make that fight.” Despite Jones’ interest in facing Pereira in a super fight, White has long been skeptical about the matchup. He believes the size and wrestling advantage Jones holds over Pereira make the fight unappealing from a competitive perspective. White further emphasized his desire for Pereira to continue thriving in his division, stating, “I want Pereira to stay where he is and do what he does and run the street.” The UFC chief had previously entertained the idea of booking Jones vs. Pereira under one condition: Jones would first need to defeat interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Yet, following UFC 309, White didn’t bring up Aspinall, signaling his increasing reluctance to pursue the fight. That said, White hinted that fan pressure or persistent demands from both fighters might sway his decision. “If they both want it bad enough and they’re both f*cking hounding me or something, maybe I would do it,” he admitted. However, for now, White is firm in his stance, focusing on keeping the fighters in their respective divisions to maintain competitive balance. While fans may dream of this clash between two champions, it seems unlikely that the UFC will book Jones vs. Pereira anytime soon. For now, both legends appear set to dominate their divisions separately, leaving super fight speculation to the imagination.
- The UFC’s Farewell Problem: Why Legends Deserve Better Sendoffs & Is Dana White A Total Chode?
The UFC has a knack for creating legends, but when it comes to saying goodbye, the organization often falls short. Fighters who have dedicated decades to the promotion, built the sport's reputation, and thrilled fans with their sacrifices rarely receive the recognition they deserve when their time in the Octagon comes to an end. Take Andrei Arlovski, for example. The former heavyweight champion and one of the most decorated fighters in UFC heavyweight history has been a cornerstone of the division for over two decades. With a record-setting number of UFC heavyweight fights and one of the longest careers in the promotion’s history, Arlovski has given everything to the sport and its fans. Yet when his time came to step away, there was no fanfare, no grand sendoff, and no acknowledgment of his incredible contributions. Despite expressing his desire for one final fight to cap off his storied career, Dana White cut him without much more than a few dismissive words. This weekend, the UFC once again showed its lack of regard for retiring legends. Stipe Miocic, arguably the greatest heavyweight champion in MMA history, announced his official retirement ahead of his bout with Jon Jones. Instead of celebrating the career of a fighter who holds the record for the most successful heavyweight title defenses, the UFC remained silent. Miocic deserved the spotlight, not just for this fight but for his remarkable legacy. Looking ahead, the UFC has other legends nearing the end of their careers. Fighters like Jim Miller, who holds the record for most fights in UFC history along with many other UFC records, and Dominick Cruz, a pioneer of the bantamweight division, are approaching retirement. Will they receive the respect and celebration they’ve earned, or will their careers fade quietly into the background as the UFC moves on to the next big thing? Why Does This Keep Happening In The UFC? One reason the UFC struggles with honoring its retiring fighters is its relentless focus on the future. The promotion prioritizes emerging stars, viral moments, and marketability over nostalgia and legacy. In a business sense, this strategy makes sense. But it’s also a disservice to the athletes who have poured their lives into building the UFC into what it is today. There’s also Dana White’s often brusque approach to fighter relations. While he’s quick to praise fighters in their prime, his tone often shifts when they’re no longer seen as assets to the company. This approach has led to numerous examples of beloved fighters being released or sidelined without the dignity or recognition they deserve. Does this make Dana White a total chode? Not necessarily but it does reflect the common ailments of founders and CEO's who get tunnel visioned on growth and expect their Human Resources department to cover things like this. To be fair this is a ball commonly dropped in all industries of business not just MMA and the UFC - that can't be chalked up to just Dana White or the UFC's head of HR - but the booming growth of the UFC and the culture of combat sports where if you're not the center of the highlight reel; get out of the way! So retirement is naturally not a focus in mixed martial artists promotions. In reality the UFC does more for MMA fighters than any other promotion and has brought the sport into mainstream. Dana White has arguably done more for MMA fighters than one sole individual and is enamored with work like most CEO's while in an industry where fighters avoid retirement talks until it's too late. With the label of leader however also comes the responsibility of setting standards and establishing a precedent. Time for a Change As the UFC continues to grow, it’s time for the promotion to reconsider how it handles retirements. Legends like Arlovski, Miocic, Miller, and Cruz have given fans countless memories and helped make MMA a mainstream sport. They deserve more than a brief acknowledgment during a press conference or a simple social media post. Here are some ways the UFC could improve: Retirement Fights / End Of Career Consultation: Grant fighters a proper sendoff with a retirement fight promoted as a celebration of their career, don't just watch their performance deteriorate and make the decision to cut them when it's bad enough. Inform fighters when this is on the table and give them deadlines to improve performance / make the retirement fight call. Hall of Fame Expansion: Tie retirements to Hall of Fame inductions or future events that honor their contributions such as a "UFC Legends List." That encompasses fighters who may not be in the Hall of Fame but deserve some level of recognition for the contributions to the company and sport. When you have fighters with storied careers and UFC record holders that aren't in the hall of fame, there needs to be a way to celebrate their careers at the end of it. Don't give everyone the retirement party but make sure your loyal contractors get their dues. Post-Fight Tributes: Use post-fight interviews or in-Octagon tributes to give retiring fighters their moment in the spotlight. Create short documentaries and promos for media outlets / influencers to report on with. Career Management Sendoff Package: Give fighters a farewell media package that includes brochures and content for them to sell seminars, private coaching's, media endorsements, and help obtain sponsorships. The UFC could even include optional contracts to help them book appearances or keep them involved with event promotions, with a management team lead by media savvy fighters like Conor McGregor & Chael Sonnen overseeing this. Fighters like Arlovski, Miocic, Miller, and Cruz are more than just athletes—they’re icons who helped shape the sport. They deserve to leave the Octagon with the same respect and admiration they earned inside it. It’s time for the UFC to step up and give its legends the sendoffs they’ve rightfully earned. What do you think? Should the UFC do more to honor its retiring fighters, or is this just the nature of the fight game? Is Dana White a total chode? Let us know in the comments!

In the dynamic world of mixed martial arts (MMA), matchups between different fighting styles often create excitement and provoke discussions among fans. The upcoming showdown between Bryce Mitchell and Kron Gracie has captured the attention of the MMA community. Each fighter brings their own unique skills and strategies to the Octagon. This post will analyze their strengths and weaknesses, predict potential outcomes, and discuss the significance of this matchup in the broader context of MMA. Style Breakdown: Bryce Mitchell’s Strengths and Weaknesses Bryce Mitchell, affectionately known as "Thug Nasty," stands out in the UFC for his distinctive and effective fighting techniques. One of Mitchell's greatest strengths is his grappling ability, thanks to his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He often showcases impressive submission moves and quick transitions that keep his opponents on their toes. For instance, during his fight against Andre Fili, Mitchell executed a flawless rear-naked choke, demonstrating his prowess in controlling opponents on the mat. However, Mitchell has areas that need improvement. While his striking has enhanced over time, it remains inconsistent. A study showed that mixed martial arts fighters typically utilize striking 60% of the time during bouts. If Gracie can keep the fight standing and exploit this weakness, it could lead to challenges for Mitchell. Furthermore, Mitchell tends to rely heavily on his grappling, which may expose him to fighters with strong takedown defenses, like Gracie. Style Breakdown: Kron Gracie’s Strengths and Weaknesses Across the Octagon stands Kron Gracie, part of the legendary Gracie family, who are iconic figures in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. Gracie's grappling skills are top-notch, with a keen focus on securing submissions. In his fight against Alex Caceres, Gracie showcased his ability to find submission opportunities, leading to a decisive victory that highlighted his ground game strengths. Nevertheless, Gracie’s striking has often been a topic of debate. While he has made strides in improving this aspect, it still lags behind. If he struggles to close the distance to take the fight to the ground, he risks being outperformed in striking exchanges. Additionally, Gracie’s relatively limited experience in the UFC—having fought only a handful of bouts—means he could be at a disadvantage against more seasoned opponents like Mitchell. Comparing Fighting Styles: What to Expect The face-off between Mitchell and Gracie is intriguing due to their grappling backgrounds, despite their differing approaches. Both fighters excel in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which invites the possibility of an engaging ground battle. However, their strategies will likely play a crucial role in determining the fight's outcome. Mitchell’s game is built on aggressive takedowns and submission attempts. If he can effectively impose his grappling, he might control the fight's pace and keep Gracie defending. In contrast, Gracie is expected to take a more calculated approach, focusing on his striking to create opportunities for takedowns. His elite-level ground skills will require him to be cautious of Mitchell's unpredictable movements. Predicted Outcomes Based on Styles Predicting the winner in this matchup is challenging. If the fight remains on the feet, Gracie’s striking could give him the advantage. Yet, if Mitchell manages to take Gracie down and implement his grappling game, he may find success. The fight's outcome could depend on how each athlete applies their game plan. Should Mitchell avoid striking exchanges and focus on his ground strengths, he stands a good chance at victory. Conversely, if Gracie successfully establishes his striking rhythm while minimizing takedown risks, he could emerge victorious. The Importance of This Matchup in the MMA Community The battle between Mitchell and Gracie represents more than just a fight; it signifies a pivotal moment in the MMA community. Both fighters embody the evolution of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in modern mixed martial arts and highlight the significance of adaptability in this sport. Fans will be keenly observing how each fighter's training influences their strategies leading up to the fight. For instance, will Mitchell focus on refining his striking skills, or will Gracie enhance his ground game preparation? This fight holds critical implications for both fighters' careers. A victory for Mitchell could solidify his status as a serious contender in the featherweight division, while Gracie's win may re-establish his position in the MMA hierarchy, particularly within the Gracie legacy. Both athletes aim to make a significant statement, and the fight's outcome could ripple through the MMA community, impacting future matchups and discussions. Anticipation for the Upcoming Clash The upcoming fight between Bryce Mitchell and Kron Gracie promises to be an electrifying spectacle, rich with diverse fighting styles and strategies. Each fighter brings unique strengths and weaknesses to the Octagon, making this matchup a compelling illustration of the dynamic nature of MMA. With both fighters in the spotlight, fans eagerly await the outcome. Will it be Mitchell's unpredictable style that prevails, or will Gracie's renowned grappling techniques come to the forefront? As the fight date approaches, excitement builds, and the MMA community looks forward to witnessing the potential redefining of expectations within the Octagon. The results of this battle could be felt for years to come, shaping conversations within the sport.
