- The great Bob Foster.
Robert Wayne Foster also known as Bob Foster (April 27, 1942 â November 21, 2015) was an American profesional boxer who fought as a lightheavyweight and heavyweight. Known as "The Deputy Sheriff", Foster was one of the greatest lightheavyweight world champions in boxing history. He won the world lightheavyweight title from then champ Dick Tiger in 1968 by fourth round knockout and went on to defend his crown fourteen times against thirteen different fighters in total from 1968 to 1974. Foster then moved up in weight and challenged Joe Fraizier and Mohamed Ali during his career, but was knocked out by both (the fight with Ali was not for a world heavyweight title, but for the regional NABF (version). He was included in Ring Magazine's list of 100 Greatest Punchers of all time. He was also named to Ring Magazine's list of the 80 Best Fighters of the Last 80 Years, ranking at fifty five and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame in the inaugural class of 1990. Im going to be writing about these great old school fighters so the new generations know who these great warriors were. These men fought the best there was and never nagged about the purse to not fight a mandatory or a dangerous fight or putting rehydration clauses or sissy catchweight's. I suggest to the new students of the game to look up Bob Foster and youll love what you will see.
- Shawn Porter thinks a fight between Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson is the best one to make
The potential matchup between Gervonta "Tank" Davis and Shakur Stevenson, according to former welterweight champion Shawn Porter, would be the ideal battle for boxing. In April, when Davis was competing, he defeated Ryan Garcia in the seventh round of a significant pay-per-view event, earning one of his biggest victories to date. There were almost 1.2 million purchases of the Showtime PPV. Stevenson also competed in April, defeating Japanese boxer Shuichiro Yoshino in a WBC world title eliminator. The current undisputed world champion Devin Haney, who may or may not stay in the lightweight division, will face Davis and Stevenson in a required matchup. If Haney drops to 140, Davis, who currently owns the WBA's "regular" belt, would be promoted to "super" champion status by the governing organisation. Additionally, Stevenson would face the highest-ranked opponent for the vacant WBC title after Haney's departure. Vasiliy Lomachenko, a fellow fighter in the Top Rank stable, is most likely to face him. Porter and the most of experts feel that Davis vs. Stevenson will be a future mega-fight. âWhen I look at the way both fighters box, I think itâs a match made in heaven,â said Porter on his Porter Way podcast. âItâs the best fight in boxing to be made and I think it will happen next year. There is a specific recipe required, I believe, to beat Tank, and I honestly believe that Shakur has the gifts, the talent, the athleticism, everything, within that recipe.â
- Michael Chandler Confident Conor McGregor Showdown Will Happen
Despite the current uncertainties surrounding Conor McGregor's return to the Octagon, Michael Chandler remains steadfast in his belief that he will eventually step into the cage against the former two-division UFC champion. The anticipation has been building since Chandler and McGregor served as opposing coaches on Season 31 of 'The Ultimate Fighter,' with the finale airing on August 15th. While Dana White and the UFC had hyped up the idea of Chandler and McGregor clashing after their coaching stint, a couple of hurdles currently stand in the way. McGregor is currently dealing with a legal situation stemming from allegations of assault, which he vehemently denies, and he has yet to enter the mandatory USADA testing pool required for fighters to compete in the UFC. Expressing his confidence in McGregor's eventual return, Chandler spoke candidly on Daniel Cormier's YouTube channel, addressing the possibility of McGregor backing out: "I think Conorâs coming back. I donât think he wants to stain his legacy by leading us all down this road of, 'Iâm doing the Ultimate Fighter, Iâm fighting Michael Chandler â Oh, by the way, never mind. Iâm not coming back." Regarding the USADA testing pool, Chandler acknowledged the speculations surrounding exemptions and emphasized that the decision lies beyond his control: "Supposedly there was a countdown with USADA, six months, and all that other stuff. Thatâs not for me to choose or decide. Have there been exemptions before? People are talking about exemptions. Of course, thatâs all on the table." Undeterred by the potential roadblocks, Chandler concluded with a bold prediction for the fight's outcome: "All I know is Iâm controlling the controllable, and either way, Iâm gonna keep on moving forward, and I do believe I fight Conor within the next six months, and itâs going to be one of the biggest pay-per-views that we have ever seen, and Iâm gonna go out there and knock him out within the first two rounds." While the likelihood of a Chandler vs. McGregor bout occurring this year appears slim, as McGregor would require an exemption from the USADA testing pool, the tenacious Chandler remains confident that the fight will eventually materialize. The question remains: Will Conor McGregor make his much-anticipated return to the Octagon to face Michael Chandler, or is it all smoke and mirrors? Only time will reveal the truth. Nevertheless, the potential clash between these two dynamic fighters promises to be a monumental pay-per-view event, brimming with excitement and the possibility of a decisive knockout within the first two rounds.
- Andy Ruiz's father claims Deontay Wilder has sent a 30% contract offer, he wants 50-50
The father and manager of the former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz, has reacted to Wilder's recent comments Wilder asserted that Ruiz Sr. was meddling with the negotiations to reach an agreement with Ruiz for a bout in the autumn in a video shared on social media. âWhat happened is that Wilder is a liar," Ruiz Sr. told Izquierdazo. âHe (Wilder) and his trainer (Malik Scott) want Andy to accept a ridiculous amount of money. But Andy is not a random name. Andy is a former world champion, the first Mexican heavyweight world champion in history. A former champion, he made history." Ruiz Sr. claims that the offer was only 30% split for his son. They want a 50-50 split with the former WBC world champion. âWilder wants to offer Andy around 30%," Ruiz Sr. explained. âWe want 50-50, because Wilder is no longer a champion, he is coming off a very bad fight, where he fought against a sparring partner (Robert Helenius). I think that sparring partner took a dive. And Andy is coming off a good fight that lasted 12 rounds (with Luis Ortiz). âIt's not good money, and I will tell you why. They are offering almost the same amount of money that (Andy) received when he beat Ortiz. How is it possible to receive the same amount of money with Wilder as we did with King Kong. Andy and Wilder are going to fill up a stadium, they are going to sell a crazy amount of PPV, because everybody wants to see that fight. They are not offering a fair split. The only thing we are asking is a 50-50 split, we are not asking for anything else. 50-50 and we are ready to fight Wilder, and give him a good beating. Wilder will suffer the same beating as (Anthony) Joshua.
- Neil Magny Responds to Ian Machado Garry's Callout: "He Asked for the Wrong Neil"
In the wake of his recent callout by rising prospect Ian Machado Garry, Neil Magny has shown a keen interest in facing the "little Irish kid" inside the Octagon. Magny, known as 'The Haitian Sensation,' is open to the possibility of a clash with Garry after his victorious outing against Phil Rowe at UFC Jacksonville. Garry, who boldly issued the challenge to Magny following his first-round TKO triumph over Daniel Rodriguez, caught the attention of the experienced welterweight. Despite being preoccupied with his scheduled bout against Rowe, Magny couldn't help but take note of the Irishman's brashness. "Iâm going to draw a blank to his name, but I guess thereâs some little Irish kid calling me out, Ian whatever his last name is. I know heâs been real chippy or whatever, but he definitely asked for the wrong Neil," Magny stated, reflecting on the callout. Although Garry already has a fight lined up against Geoff Neal at UFC 292, Magny finds himself torn between who he hopes emerges victorious. Selfishly, the Haitian-born fighter leans towards a Garry victory, as it could potentially set up the highly anticipated clash. However, he also expresses a genuine liking for Neal and acknowledges the opportunity for the latter to derail the Irishman's hype. While Magny's recent triumph over Rowe marked a return to the win column after a loss to Gilbert Burns earlier this year, his recent record has been somewhat uneven. Sporting a 4-5 record in his last nine fights, he remains confident in his abilities and believes he possesses the style to defeat Garry and halt his upward trajectory. With an impressive career that includes notable victories over the likes of Robbie Lawler, Carlos Condit, Geoff Neal, and Johny Hendricks, Magny boasts a wealth of experience and a skill set that makes him a formidable opponent for any welterweight. As the MMA community eagerly anticipates the outcome of Garry's clash with Neal on August 19th at UFC 292, all eyes will be on the potential collision between Neil Magny and the Irish sensation. If Garry emerges victorious, the stage may be set for a showdown that promises fireworks and the opportunity for Magny to prove that the callout was indeed a misstep on the part of the "little Irish kid." In the ever-evolving landscape of mixed martial arts, matchups like these keep fans on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the clash of skill, will, and determination inside the hallowed Octagon.

- Dempsey, boxings first mega-star.
William Harrison Dempsey AKA Jack Dempsey AKA âKid blackie/Manassa maulerâ the great Dempsey was boxingâs first true mega star and the last from the old west, a known hobo who learned his trade having back room bar brawls or even fighting to eat a meal Dempsey spent his early years travelling from town to town fighting all and anybody willing to throw hands with the no nonsense bag of aggression, admittedly himself Dempsey lost many fights during these times but itâs also where he earned his stripes rising from the floor when needed to just in order to finish a bout and hopefully earn a few nickles to eat. Dempsey was a pioneer in boxing and him and a European champion George Carpentier fought in what is known as boxingâs first million dollar gate, He introduced us to the âDempsey rollâ or âshiftingâ as it was later known in his demolition of the âpotowatomie giantâ and current world heavyweight champion Jess Willard. He destroyed Willard and became world champion. The neutral corner rule was introduced when a fighter was dropped during the Tunney v.s Dempsey rematch that match ironically being âthe long countâ. Dempseys rise from a travelling hobo having married a prostitute to mixing with the glitz and glamour of the iconic roaring 1920's even then the name Jack Dempsey was known the world over such was his popularity even without radio or television. He changed the face of boxing with an aggressive style that only whet the blood thirsty publics demand to see more of such bouts, prior to Dempseys arrival boxing itself was a defence first minded sport with bouts lasting over 20 rds or longer fighters would conserve energy for the latter rounds, not Dempsey it was a hit em first and hit em last attitude and the public loved it so much so it was said that there were more pictures of Dempsey hanging on walls in houses than there were of Jesus Christ himself. He injected a much needed energy into the sport and set the tone for fighters of the future and is an inspiration till this day, the public wanted aggression, they wanted action! Dempsey happily obliged. He is a boxing god and itâs first true mega star the true hardcore boxing fans remember you. Dempsey died 31-5-1983 he was 87 yrs old. With Dempsey's aggresive fighting style imagine how big he would be now a days with all the social media. Sadly we will never know.
- James Gallagher to face James Gonzalez at Bellator 298
The replacement for James Gallagher's fight in the Bellator cage in August has been decided. Gallagher will now take on James Gonzalez at Bellator 298, according to several sources with knowledge of the promotion's goals. The event takes place on August 11 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Gonzalez will take the place of Cris Lencioni, who experienced cardiac arrest earlier this month, his wife Marca wrote on social media. After two withdrawals following his most recent defeat to Patchy Mix at Bellator 270 in November 2021, Gallagher will return to the ring at last. "The Strabanimal" had won four straight matches before to that, three of which were by submission. Gonzalez, a former CFFC champion, has won four of his last six fights. At Bellator 282 in June 2022, Gonzalez gave Cody Law his first professional defeat. Gonzalez's most recent fight was at Bellator 295 in April, where he lost to Aaron Pico by unanimous decision. Logan Storley vs. Brennan Ward at welterweight will be the main event of Bellator 298.
- Watch: Sean Strickland schools random guy from the street
When it comes to Sean Strickland, you might think that most people have figured this out by now, but one fan obviously hadn't. In a recent video, Strickland describes running with a novice fan on the street who was teaching him how to shadow box. Strickland offered the fan to spar with him and inquired as to how hard he should go after being surprised that the stranger had showed up at the gym after being urged to do so. The fan's response of 70% turned out to be roughly 70% too high. The #7 ranked UFC middleweight started to open up after assessing the opponent's potential after initially playing defence. He landed only a few blows before repeatedly knocking his opponent to the ground to end the fight. While he was quickly shredded, both men smiled as they touched gloves at the conclusion, so while he may have learned a harsh lesson, it might have been worse.

I believe Broner wants this fight because its an easy way back to a world title and puts him in the mix again for good fights and ofcourse good paydays. I also believe he can win over a Rollie that didnt impress anyone in his last fight against veteren Barroso.
