- Munguia v.sDerevyanchenko candidate to be fight of the year.
Tonight former superwelterweight WBO world champ Jaime Munguia took on a real test in fighting the crafty Sergey Derevyanchenko in the 168lbs divisiĂłn. Munguia looked huge after rehydration but it didnt matter to Derevyanchenko who put on quiet a war. The whole fight was very even what set Munguia apart was when he knocked down Derevyanchenko with a body shot to the liver in the 12th and final round to secure a win. If he wouldnt of knocked down Derevyanchenko he would of lost in the scorecards. Judges had it (114-113 Barragan) (115-112 Moret) (114-113 Villareal). It would of been a split decision to Derevyanchenko or even a draw . It was a great fight where nobody deserved to loose but its boxing and we need to have a winner. Munguia barely passed this very complicated test.
- Mariana JuĂĄrez at 42 can still compete with the best.
Tonight former world champ and mexican boxing legend Mariana "Barbie" JuĂĄrez fought a hell of a fight against a really tuff Mayeli Flores . It was a slugfest from start to finish where Flores landed the harder punches and got the majority decisiĂłn. Although Flores won the fight , JuĂĄrez gave a great fight and is still amongst the best in her divisiĂłn even at 42.
- Shane Mosley Jr, making his way up.
Tonight Mosley had a complicated fight with a tuff Dimitrius Ballard. The fight was very competetive, what set Mosley apart was his power landing big bombs and winning by Knockout in round 7 and winning the NABO championship.

- Valentina Shevchenko readying for Alexa Grasso rematch
Valentina Shevchenko, the former flyweight champion, may have suffered a setback when she lost her title to Alexa Grasso at UFC 285 in March, but she is far from broken. In her first defeat in nearly five-and-a-half years, Shevchenko displayed her resilience and is now gearing up for a highly anticipated rematch with Grasso. During a guest appearance at Friday's Q&A session at Rogers Arena, Shevchenko openly addressed her loss and the upcoming rematch. With a determined spirit, she confidently stated: "I'm getting ready for the rematch and I know what I have to do. Yeah, I'm just getting ready. I'm refocused and retaking (in) everything." Shevchenko's dedication to martial arts is unmatched. Having been in the sport for three decades, she emphasizes her longevity and tenacity. Her upcoming fight against Grasso presents an opportunity to prove her dominance once again. "For 30 years, people (usually) have three careers in martial arts. But I'm still here. I'm still saying I'm the best," she proudly declares. Acknowledging Grasso's skills, Shevchenko recognizes her opponent's strategy. While Grasso may be prepared for that crucial opportunity, Shevchenko questions whether it will present itself. "For me, she's a great fighter. She did what she did in the fight, but she is a chance fighter. During the fight, (she is) doing not much, conserving the energy, and waiting for a chance. But actually, if there is no chance, there is no victory," Shevchenko analyzes. Although the date for the rematch has yet to be announced, UFC President Dana White has confirmed that the promotion is actively working on it. Considering the current schedule of title fights, it is likely that the highly anticipated rematch will take place in September at the earliest. As Shevchenko silently regroups and meticulously prepares for her chance at redemption, her focus is unwavering. Her determination to regain her title and reassert herself as the best in her division is evident. Valentina Shevchenko's journey is one of resilience, skill, and an unyielding belief in her abilities. When she steps into the octagon against Alexa Grasso, the world will witness a true champion seeking redemption and reclaiming her throne.
- Bellator 297 Loses Two Bouts, Including Former Title Challenger
Excitement was building for Bellator 297, set to take place on June 16th at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. However, the event has suffered a couple of setbacks, as two anticipated bouts have been canceled just days before fight night. Fans were eagerly anticipating a middleweight showdown between former Bellator title challenger Austin Vanderford and rising star Imamshafi Aliev. Unfortunately, fight enthusiasts will have to wait a little longer to witness this clash, as the matchup has been unexpectedly canceled. The reasons behind the cancellation have not been disclosed, leaving fans curious and disappointed. Adding to the disappointment, a bantamweight bout between Leandro Higo and Nikita Mikhailov has also been called off due to an illness affecting Higo. Illnesses are always unpredictable and unfortunate, and the combat sports community wishes Higo a swift recovery. Despite these setbacks, Bellator 297 is still set to deliver an action-packed night with a stacked card featuring 16 bouts. Headlining the event is a highly anticipated light heavyweight title fight between reigning champion Vadim Nemkov and former UFC title challenger Yoel Romero. Nemkov, with an impressive record of 16 wins and only 2 losses, is eager to defend his title against the formidable Romero, who brings his wealth of experience and skill to the cage. In the co-main event, a historic moment could be on the horizon as Bellator featherweight champion Patricio Freire aims to become the first fighter in a major promotion to win titles in three different divisions. Freire will face off against the talented Bellator bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis, who himself possesses an impressive resume and is determined to derail Freire's historic quest. Bellator 297 promises to be a night filled with electrifying action and potential history-making moments. While the loss of Vanderford vs. Aliev and Higo vs. Mikhailov is unfortunate, fight fans can still expect an array of captivating matchups from some of the most talented fighters in the promotion. Will Nemkov successfully defend his light heavyweight crown against the relentless Romero? Can Freire make history and etch his name in the MMA record books? These questions and more will be answered at Bellator 297, where resilience, skill, and determination will be on full display.
- Regis Prograis thinks Teofimo Lopez might mentally break down against Josh Taylor
Regis Prograis wants Josh Taylor to beat Teofimo Lopez because Prograis hopes he and Taylor eventually will fight again before Taylor moves up to the welterweight division. The WBC super lightweight champion considers Lopezâs style one that could trouble Taylor, yet Prograis thinks Taylor will simply be too big and too strong for Lopez in their 12-round fight for Taylorâs WBO junior welterweight title. Scotlandâs Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) and Brooklynâs Lopez (18-1, 13 KOs) will square off in an intriguing main event ESPN will air June 10 from The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. âI think Josh Taylor will win,â Prograis told BoxingScene.com. âPhysically, heâs just bigger. I think he is stronger. I think Teo does have the style to beat him because he is explosive. He knows how to move and stuff, and Josh Taylor is more stationary. He likes to brawl and bang. But at the same time, I feel like the mental pressure might break Teo down.â Prograis (28-1, 24 KOs) feels the unbeaten Taylor shouldâve lost his last fight against Jack Catterall, but the New Orleans native hasnât been particularly impressed with Lopez since the former unified lightweight champion entered the 140-pound division, either. âI think a lotta people thatâs picking Teo, when they see them kinda stand next to each other, when they do a face-off, youâll see how much bigger Josh Taylor is physically. And I think thatâs gonna play a part in it, too, even with Teoâs mindset.â
- Everyone is in awe of Khamzat Chimaev
Khamzat Chimaev, a UFC welterweight standout, has built a path of destruction along route to championship contention since making his promotional debut in 2020. "Borz" achieved a record-breaking three victories in 66 days, including two victories at 170 pounds and one at middleweight. The Chechen-born Swede demonstrated his grappling abilities against John Phillips and Rhys McKee, and he also displayed his punching strength against Gerald Meerschaert. Gilbert Burns, Kevin Holland, and Li Jingliang have all been added to Chimaev's list of undefeated opponents. However, given the specifics of his match with "Trailblazer," the emerging star has been unsure of his divisional standing. Although some have suggested moving up to 185 pounds and others have advocated winning the welterweight title, Chimaev has long seemed certain of winning both divisionsâand perhaps even another. Chimaev can be seen working out at the Allstar Training Centre in Stockholm with a number of well-known athletes in a recent video that he posted to his YouTube page. Irman SmajiÄ is among them, along with fellow UFC fighter Volkan Oezdemir. "He's a f*cking animal, brother," SmajiÄ said to the camera. "He's a f*cking animal. In the beginning, I had at least my size and power (as an advantage). There's nothing more with that. He goes through that, he goes through. Punches, everything; he's a f*cking beast."
- Harry Greb: another example why old school was the best.
The legendary Harry Greb was a force of nature. He once went through an amazing 45 fight winning streak in a single year. Imagine fighting 45 times in a year, Its like fighting every weekend and still being able to win them all is truly amazing. His legendary career spanned 13 years and had almost 300 fights in that time and still being able to terrorize 4 weight divisions. Thats why I love the old school fighters because they were tuff as nails.
- The Canelo soap opera continues.
Canelo now say's lightheavyweight WBA world champion Dimitri Bivol is afraid of him and is afraid to fight him at 175lbs again. Canelo- "Now they dont want to fight so Im moving on". He also stated that he feels that he is a better fighter than Bivol and that he was dominating the first half of their first fight. Its his own coments that make people laugh and talk about him. My personal opiniĂłn is that Canelo better get a respectable opponent for his september fight or else its going to get worst for him. He is loosing alot of respect, especially now that he isnt fighting Benavides or Bivol.
- Bob Arum to offer Devin Haney 3 vital options for his next fight
Bob Arum apparently has several attractive offers to keep lightweight champion Devin Haney part of his promotional orbit. The head of Top Rank Inc. outlined three fights for the 24-year-old Haney, who retained his undisputed distinction last month with a unanimous decision over Vasiliy Lomachenko. The fight brought to a close Haneyâs multi-bout contract with Top Rank, which he signed with last year. Arum said a rematch with Lomachenko could be a possibility, given how close it was and how a significant swath of the boxing public believed Lomachenko deserved to win. Another fight is for Haney to take on the winner of this Saturdayâs 140-pound title fight between WBO champion Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City; Haney has hinted at moving up to 140. Yet another option would be for Haney to fight two-division titlist and current lightweight contender Shakur Stevenson. Arum said he hopes to present the possible plans to Bill Haney, Haneyâs father, trainer, and manager. âWell I havenât talked to Bill about it,â Arum said on The 3 Knockdown Rule. âBill is doing what a manager should do. And thatâs to look for the best opportunity for Devin. What I can come up is three [fights] in my imagination: one may be the winner of Taylor and Teofimo at 140. If he (Haney) wants to go up in weight. âSecondly, there is a fight with Shakur that would be massive because everybody would want to see that fight, and third is the rematch (with Lomachenko). âHopefully Bill comes to New York for the Teofimo-Taylor fight. Iâll sit with him. Heâs a very intelligent guy. Weâll discuss all the options that we at Top Rank can offer. And then he has to weigh it against what any other promoter would offer to determine what he wants to do next. But weâve enjoyed promoting Devin and hope it continues.â Haney would conceivably entertain offers from Eddie Hearn's Matchroom, his former promoter, and Premier Boxing Champions.
- Deontay Wilder hopeful for a boxing match against Anthony Joshua
Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has confirmed that an offer has been received for a December showdown with two-time champion Anthony Joshua. Both boxers are being offered tremendous amount of money to hold the fight in Saudi Arabia. After years of being unable to come together for a matchup, Wilder believes the fight is finally going to happen. "The offer is definitely out there, the discussion has been talked and it's a real thing," Wilder told Mirror Fighting. "I think it definitely is going to take place, Saudi Arabia is a beautiful place to be, even though I know they get a lot of heat on the past activities that have went on in their country. "They understand that but at this point in time they really have changed a lot of the laws and a lot of the ways of things. They don't need tourists, but they want to show people their country and what they have to offer so they've lessened up a lot on the laws over there and for me to go over to visit, in my first hand opinion, it was a beautiful place to be. They're serious, they're legit about what they'll do and what they're trying to do. If they do what they're trying to do, that's going to be the next big place to fight at." Wilder would not confirm reports that both he and Joshua would receive guarantees of $40 million to stage the fight in the Middle East. "When you're dealing with Saudi Arabia it's always going to be someone's career high out there," Wilder explained. "They have a lot out there and they most of all just want to show the world what they want to offer to the world and the things that they're doing out there. They want to bring it to a safe environment and a place where you can enjoy and you can see a lot. I like the architecture and the different buildings and things like that." Wilder has been out of the ring since last October, when he blew away Robert Helenius in a single round.
