Former title challenger, Paulo Costa looks to stake his claim for another shot at UFC gold as he takes on returning former UFC Middleweight Champion, Luke Rockhold at UFC 278 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City. Luke Rockhold is an underdog in Saturday’s co-main event. He is currently holding a record of 16-5 and has not stepped in the octagon since July 2019. Since his title loss against Michael Bisping back in June 2016, he has only managed to bag one victory out of three fights. The losses came against one of the good hard hitters in UFC, Yoel Romero and Jan Blachowicz. His all-career losses have come by knockout which might be a big advantage for the former title challenger, Paulo Costa. The Brazilian was bossing in the cage and was on 13 fight win streak before he suffered back-to-back losses. He lost the title fight to the UFC middleweight king Israel Adesanya via TKO in the 2nd round at UFC 253 and Marvin Vettori in his last fight. Costa is currently 13-2 and is the favorite to win the fight as he owns great striking capabilities. But Smith thinks Rockhold is more skilled than Costa and just must tighten up defensively to avoid the Brazilian’s power shots. Smith said in an interview with James Lynch. “Luke Rockhold’s problem is not that he is not good enough to be at the top of the division because he is – and that same goes for 185 and 205. He is that good. His issue has always been his defense and pulling out of shots with his chin up.’’ “I hope that he’s fixed that because if he has, he can avoid taking anything big. I don’t see where Paulo Costa wins this fight. I don’t see how. Luke’s too good on his feet. I’ve said this time and time again. I’ve heard the horror stories of Luke Rockhold grappling. That guy is goddamn good from what I hear. … If he can avoid taking a big shot from Paulo Costa, honestly, as silly as it sounds, he might make it look easy.” You got to agree on this with Smith. Luke Rockhold is excellent when comes to trapping an opponent on the ground. If he manages to take his opponent down, you are in trouble. He has already been trained by the high-profile coach Javier Mendez at AKA along with UFC Hall of Famers Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier. Both will be looking to bounce back from the heavy defeats and put out a notice for the current champion Israel Adesanya as he prepares to face Alex Pereira at UFC 281. Most likely, Adesanya will be watching out for Rockhold as he has already defeated Paulo Costa. Rockhold vs Costa was meant to happen at UFC 277 first but had to wait a little longer to settle their grudge as UFC decided to move it to UFC 278. IBF Flyweight World Champ Sunny Edwards wants a global tour consisting of three fights. Not just any three fights, he wants the best in the división. He wants his tour to start in Mexico going against WBC Champ Julio Cesar Martínez. Then he wants to go to London and fight Jesse "Bam" Rodríguez. Then to end his tour he wants WBO Champ Junto Nakatani in Japan. He wants Nakatani in Japan for New Years Eve. New Years Eve is a special date in Japan for boxing events kind of like Cinco de Mayo for Mexicans. Those are Sunnys plans but its easier said then done, he wants to fight the killers of the Flyweight división. If he can get those fights and start his tour , can he finish it? Those three opponents he wants can also beat him , its a coin toss. Thats why I think he deserves respect for wanting to do that tour, If it does happen it will be fireworks although my opinión is that I dont think he can beat all three of them. I just dont see him beating "Bam" Rodríguez ,of all three on his wish list he is in my opinión the hardest of them all. I admire your guts Sunny , good luck.

Tyson Fury retired again on his 34th birthday and now says its serious. Last week he was exited to see who would win in A.J vs Usyk 2 fight and now says before that fight bon voyage. My opinión on the Fury circus is that its just another publicity stunt to get attention. He will come back to show he is still the man in the heavyweight división which I believe he is. I just dont believe his retirement talks. There is alot of money to come back and fight the A.J vs Usyk 2 winner and also show he is the man in the heavyweight división.

Canelo says he is much more dangerous now coming off a loss because he feels like a wounded beast and will go for the KO victory and retire GGG in their upcoming september 17th showdown. Canelo is training 100% for this fight and is really excited and hungry for the win. His goal is the KO for this fight as if he was obsessed with the KO. This fight is personal and doesnt want to leave it to the judges.

Former WBC Lightweight Champ Omar Figueroa Jr is angry and frustrated that Broner pulled out last minute. He now wants to take it out on replacement foe Sergey Lipinets (16-2-1). Lipinets may come in last minute but hes been trainning and is ready to rumble. Lets be positive, this change may be good, it might be a better fight than against Broner. We all know Broner may be a great fighter when he wants to be, but he sometimes doesnt show up to do a good fight.

Ex 4time world champ Adrien "The Problem" Broner pulls out of fight days before the event. Broner canceled his participation in the august 20th bout against Figueroa dueo to mental health issues. Texas comission isnt taking it kindly and wants proof that Broner is seeking help for his mental health issues. This is surely going to affect Broner in future fights to come. No one will take him seriously after this.

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman aims to maintain his dominance in the 170-pound division when he defends his title in a rematch in the main event of UFC 278 against Leon Edwards. The event will take place on August 20th at Vivant's Arena in Salt Lake City. Usman and Edwards both have long winning streaks. Usman is on a winning spree with 19 straight wins. He won UFC welterweight title in March 2019 against Tyron Woodley. The win streak includes his five successful title defenses. While Edwards is in fantastic form as his most recent loss came against Usman and since then he is on 9 fight-win streaks. Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards have met before in the cage when their names were not much popular with the masses. The bout took place in the prelims of UFC: Dos Anjos vs. Cowboy 2 in Florida and judges gave a unanimous decision in favor of Usman. In the first meeting, Kamaru Usman dominated on the ground. Usman finished the bout with an amazing 10 minutes and 50 seconds of control time. Meanwhile, Edwards could only control his opponent on the ground for 40 seconds. Leon Edwards feels in prime form ahead of UFC 278 and he is not quite sure Usman can say the same. Edwards could have got his title shot much earlier but the Covid-19 breakout put a pause on his progress. Edwards' clash with Tyron Woodley was canceled as the world went into lockdown. He was then unable to leave England when UFC started to bring back things to normal. His fight against Khamzat Chimaev also got canceled as the Swede couldn’t recover from the viral illness. His return to the cage didn’t go as he expected as he faced Belal Muhammad. The main event ended soon in a no-contest due to an illegal eye poke. In his last fight, he defeated Nate Diaz at UFC 263. Since putting the gold around his waist, Kamaru Usman has defended his title 2 times each against friends turned foes, Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington, and one time against his teammate Gilbert Burns. The Nigerian outclassed in every title defense with his great striking and ground game skills. Usman is out of action since his massive win against Covington in November 2021. The champion underwent hand surgery for a tendon issue that required additional time to heal up. The game plan of both fighters will be different than before as both are aware of each other’s capabilities and will try to capitalize on every error. What spells danger for the challenger is that Usman's striking is more effective than when they last fought seven years ago, and his wrestling ability is just as good.

Emmanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete is the current Featherweight WBO World Champion. He's a solid champion but hasnt tried to unify and challenge other champs. Dont get me wrong Isaac Dogboe and "Pitufo" Diaz were top fighters but he has been champ for a while, but hasnt tried to unify in any way. Now i now that he is from Top Rank and the other champs are a different promotion company but imagine a fight between Navarrete v.s Rey Vargas (WBC)or a fight between Navarrete v.s Leo Santa Cruz(WBA). These two fighters that love to go forward throwing punches, it would be a hell of a fight. I think that the problem today in boxing is that sometimes we dont know who the best is, because some champs are to afraid to fight the other champs to unify and see who the best is. Unified World Middleweight Champ Gennady "GGG" Golovkin says he respects Canelo but questions if he achieved all that he has achieved clean without P.E.D's. In 2018 Canelo tested positive for Clenbuterol before their rematch. With Canelo getting popped in that casé they had to postpone to later date. Canelos team member and ex world champ Óscar Valdez also got caught and popped for the same drug Clenbuterol. That raised more douts on if the Canelo team plays fair. Recently Canelo has been getting tested by W.B.C to check if he is clean. He hasnt got caught since.

Adrien"The Problem"Broner (34-4-1) and his rival Omar Figueroa Jr (28-2-1) are in desperate need for a win to be relavent and to be honest so Showtime stays on their bandwagon. Showtime has been loyal to the ex 4 time World Champion Broner and stuck with him since his downfall in 2012. Broner hasnt won since 2016 and his last 2 wins are very questionable decisión wins. Omar Figueroa Jr will test and push Broner because of his high work rate which in my opinión is Broners Aquiles heal because Broner can be stingie with his punches sometimes and can get outworked and that can be "The Problem". I believe Broner needs the win more than Figueroa especially if he wants that dream pay day fight v.s Floyd"Money"Mayweather. Alot is on the líne for both fighters, but i do believe Broner needs the win more. Sadly the fight is this weekend and there will be so much good action. I believe it wont be able to attract that much attention especially when you got the A.J v.s Usyk rematch and U.F.C and BKFC . It will be hard to choose.

Michael "Venom" Page is really exited to be making his bare knuckle debut and doing it at home. Another great event is to be held this weekend in London. BKFC hits London this weekend with Michael"Venom"Page v.s Mike"Platinum"Perry as the main event. Both famous MMA stars well known to be great strikers will fight bare knuckle. I honestly cant wait to see this fight, plus it has a stacked under card that includes Van Sant v.s Sigala and Mick Terrill v.s Shewmaker. This weekend is full of great fighting action it will be hard to choose.

People love that drama and nothing gets more real than this family feud. First it was their fathers and now its the next generation. Eubank Jr v.s Benn sold out in less than an hour. I think this fight will live up to the hype.
