Fight.TV wants to know what was the fight that got you hooked on MMA? Please share and comment wherever you see this, including what your top MMA fight of all time is! We scouted the MMA sub-reddit R/MMA and found a lot of really great calls here. "New Zealander here. My old boss was a big fan and brought out the TV so we could watch Izzy vs Costa at work on PPV one afternoon. Been hooked ever since." "What was your 1st fight again?? VHS was how we made sure to catch each episode of the original Ultimate Fighter reality TV show...I've read and heard in interviews THAT is what saved UFC from actually going out of business and I don't know how old you are but that Forrest Griffin vs Stephen Bonner fight was on regular TV... part way into the 1st round people were calling all over telling three friends "QUICK, put in this channel!!!" I'm not sure HOW but it seems the total viewership by the end of round 3 was wayyyyyy more then when that fight started... ONLY time I have EVER seen 2 people pound each other START TO FINISH almost NON stop... maybe a Rocky movie lol 😆" "mcgregor vs nate 2. Never seen a man punch so accurate and hard. Never seen a man taking such punches and still going hard. Fan of both now." "I been watching since Rampage vs Chuck, but I was kinda losing interest around that time because all my favorites were retiring, and I hated Conor. But man, I must have watched that fight around 20 times since it was just insane like it had the slow burn of a boxing match almost. Got me back into being excited about fighting I remember talking about how great the trilogy will be and we all know how that’s turned out, at least so far." "Anderson Silva v. Forrest Griffin I loved the quotes from Forrest in interviews a fair while after the event: Interviewer: Let's look back at your last fight against Silva at UFC 101. Ultimately, what do you think went wrong out there? Forrest: "I don't know. I'm going to guess everything. You know where I made my biggest mistake was saying I would fight that guy. That's definitely the first mistake I made and the biggest. Because that sh*t was a year ago and literally every day people ask me something about that - What happened? What happened?" "[Anderson punched me in the chin] Repeatedly and I was very confused. I tried to punch him and he literally moved his head out of the way and looked at me like I was stupid for doing it. He looked at me like - "Why would you do such a stupid thing?" He looked at me like - "Oh, did you really think you were going to hit me? What a stupid thing to think, you slow slow white boy." Then he punched me. I felt embarrassed for even trying to punch him. I felt like some kid trying to wrestle his dad."

This happened in Minneapolis on November 4th 1947. #2 Goes to the UFC when George Masvidal knocked out Ben Askren in 5 seconds with a flying knee! This happened in 2019 at UFC 239 and will always be one of the craziest knockouts ever. #3 Is the worlds fastest MMA knockout with Marian Rusu knocking out Ben Schneider at Ultimate Challenge MMA 39 in England back in 2014. - Pacquiao Blames Loss On Leg Cramps
Manny lost by unanimous decision to his title offense bout against Yordenis Ugas last week. I love Pacman, I'm a huge fan and always have been. I just don't agree here and will explain why. Manny - "In my entire career, Ugas was one of the easiest opponents. He only had one style, and I should have been able to easily move away. You’ve seen how I’ve moved in my fights before. I couldn’t move in this fight. My legs just stopped." Fight fans, commentators, other boxers have come out and said that Manny didn't display the speed and power we're used to seeing him at. He may have won some of the earlier rounds but he still looked sluggish. Maybe Pacman did have leg cramps and certain factors that effected his performance. Kurt Angle won Olympic gold wrestling with a broken neck. Nick Newell dominates his opponents and he's fighting with ONE hand. Rich Franklin had a broken arm when he knocked out Chuck Liddell. I am surprised to see Pacman giving excuses, I'm sure he's not lying and really had leg cramps but. Fight sports are the one place that we don't make room for excuses. Manny is an icon and should set the pace for future fighters. Why can't he just admit Ugas got the best of him? If he didn't think he could win through pre fight issues, why did he continue and not back out like Spence did? We all still love Manny but dude, own your loss. Give credit to Ugas. You're getting older and that's okay. It's not time for you to be a world champ anymore, it's about time you help coach the next one. Nothing but love!
- Way Of Martial Arts - Belt Rankings
Fight.TV and Wayofmartialarts.com are bringing you a curation of views on the state of martial arts today on this blog post. What better way to discuss the way of martial arts, than to talk about the belt system. Martial arts belt systems are derived from in East Asia and most commonly assosciated with ancient china. Although many argue it wasn't karate but Judo or Taekwondo that set the pace with the belt system. Regardless, today we know there's a belt system for almost every martial art from jiujitsu to karate. You always start with a white belt because traditionally, that's a new belt. As the O.G's would train, their belt would change color. It would go from white to yellow, then turn green after months and years of training. After about a decade, your once white belt would now be some shade of brown or black. Hence, black belts. Back in the day if you saw a dude with a black belt, it was the equivalent of cauliflower ears. A warning sign of consistent grind in the art of whooping butt. Now a days, belts come a little easier. You actually get them in the color of your martial arts rank by testing or proving yourself to your teacher instead of like just sweating on it for 10 years. Imagine what a real black belt must have smelt like. Probably a highschool football locker room x 100. Many people are concerned with the direction of belt systems today. As martial arts studios are being dubbed "mc-dojo's" for doing things like giving away black belts in a year or allowing 9 year olds to earn black belts. Gracie Jiujitsu has come under scrutiny in the BJJ community because of their online video jiujitsu program where you can earn your belts by sending them videos of you reciting submissions, escapes, over videofeed to send back to them after watching their instructional videos. Nothin is worse than going into a gym and rolling with a guy who calls himself a black belt and knowing the guy is fudging it. It's rare but it happens and there's instructors out there who aren't the rank they claim to be. Martial arts is a diverse field of people from all walks of life. Traditionally the way is to earn your spot through consistent effort and grinding. Putting in those hours. To those who have done that, it's very disheartening to see belts given away. Watering down the community. Other don't see it as much of an issue. What do you think? Should our belt systems revert to the old days of letting it change color on it's own? Can we balance a modern system that has clean new belts but still makes you earn them? Can children really earn the title of blackbelt? Share and let us know what you think!
- Jake Paul Pays MMA Vet More Than Entire Career's Earnings
Anthony Taylor 7-5-0 is on a 5 fight win streak and has been competing in promotions like Bellator since 2015. He's been Jake Pauls sparring partner for the upcoming Woodley fight and has already been paid more than his entire fight career earnings. To which Anthony has said is "Disturbing." I 100% agree with the guy. A lot of us, I was even guilty of it. Have been really upset about Youtube boy coming into combat sports and skipping the rank climb grind to go straight for near retirees smaller than him. It's created a lot of controversy, brought attention to his fights, sold PPV's, and given him a platform to talk about fighter pay. Anthony said - "I’m getting paid more money as Jake’s training partner in two months than I made in my whole entire MMA career in six years. I swear to god, I made more money with Jake in two months than my whole MMA career. That’s disturbing when you think about it, because I fought for Bellator. I’ve fought two top five contenders in Bellator and I had a good run. It’s time to take it up a notch and fight for the UFC.” Which interestingly enough, Bellator pays it's fighters around 40% of what they do in revenue while UFC pays it's fighters closer to 10%. So it's hard to say what Anthony Taylors next best move is you can guarantee he's not gonna keep quiet about fighter compensation after this.
